Snipers, and why we can't "snipe"

Recommended Posts

Alright, <Rant>

So here it is. One of my new favorite games, Day Z.

I'm a sniper by heat, people can tell that about my YouTube videos from the past.

Now, tell me. How can a sniper, be a sniper when people keep fucking spawning in behind him with M16's and killing you.

It may be Ghosting, but I'm sure it's this :

1. People know where snipers like I go, because it gives us snipers a good vantage point on the city, like no other spot.

2. They decide they want to go "Sniper Hunting"

3. They join random servers behind the spot where snipers in ghillie suits lie.

4. They get free kills, and can loot the sniper for his .50 Cal and anything else important, and LEAVE instantly.

------

ATOC:

Another reason why I can't snipe in Day Z, is because how ATOC works. Honestly, I think ATOC should be ON All Grass + Trees 24/7. When its DISABLED... You can, see through trees, bushes, less grass shows, the ground is more plain, and it is easier to sot a more "high definition" player model AKA Wearing a Ghillie suit.

-------

Ghosting is another bullshit story.

I'm sure any other snipes can relate to this matter. This is the 7TH time I've died by someone spawning in behind me... and killing me.

You could just try to find a more original sniper spot. If you lie on a hill overlooking Electro or Cherno you deserve an axe in the back of the head. Just because a player get's the jump on you does not mean he is ghosting.

Sniper tears are only bettered by hacker tears. Yummy.

Edit - your post should be called "Snipers, and why I can't snipe."

It's an 'issue' and will probably be fixed some time in the future which might or might not be any time soon.

Regarding your rant's topic, when that happens to me I conclude that I deserved it. I mean when i'm sniping people like a pussy while they have no chance to retaliate (ohko) and most of the time no chance to even react and i get ghosted then I feel like I deserved it.

Not happy of my unfortunate fate, but not butthurt either.

Shiet happens you know.

Let me get this straight.

You're camping out there on the hills, presumably sniping at players on your own, and you're getting pissy with people getting the jump on you?

So make a friend who will watch your back whilst you camp out pissing off other players rather than moaning on the forums...

a good sniper never stays in the same possition after he fires a shot :P shoot then move to a different possition, not the same hill :P

People log in where they log out, if you happen to be sniping in that location that's your problem.

While I empathize on some level - you seem to be forgetting one key rule of thumb: Snipers aren't going to post up where they know they'll get ambushed.

If you're going to snipe, think about this when finding your hide:

1) If it's a well-traversed or well-known spot, avoid it if possible. Snipers work best when noone knows where they are (or even that they exist up until the shot).

2) If you MUST go to that well-known spot, then make sure you're not visible. Sitting in the middle of the hill, expecting a little bit of grass to shield you from sight, is NOT legit :P Lay down in the grass behind some brush, gather your breathing, pop up to scope out a shot, then pop back down (and preferably move, see number 3).

3) If you're worried about security, and don't have a spotter or teammates to protect your flank(s), then move. The best snipers never die, and are never found. Why? Because said snipers aren't going to sit in a single location for more than one or two kills (granted, sometimes people are running close and you can squeeze off extra kills). The point is to move before anyone can figure out where you are.

If you want to live as a sniper - be unpredictable. We're all human - other people can figure out locations and patterns just as good as you. The second you become predictable, you become vulnerable. Patterns are also bad to develop. Maybe it sounds like I'm getting too deep into the psychological aspect of the game - but when you invest the time into your character to get them geared, ready to go, etc - it makes sense to remember that these aren't bots you're fighting against.

If your in-game name is Robert and you were camping north of Elektro, I flanked you and you didn't have a clue.

This.. sniping 101 bro.. always move and check your last locations through your scope for people checking in on you.

Well then.

Some parts of this community.... Every community has those parts, and I keep forgetting how stupid they are.

>Ignored

_

On the other hand... I know I can't help someone logging in on my back, but It happens 24/7.

I would think of it like this.. If someone knows where you are as a sniper and can ghost on you, they prob would have killed you already with a sniper round if they had one. Learn to move.
