A story with a nice ending, for once.

DayZ gets a lot of 'bad press' off most of the people playing when it comes to hackers nuking servers and bandits spawn killing us 'normal' players. However, yesterday I would like to think that a bit of justice was done whilst we were playing, here is the story...

4 of us were playing on a US server looting and shooting around Berezino when suddenly cries of 'WHAT THE FUCK' rang through teamspeak - Vinnie had been lifted into the air dropped in the middle of a field with 5/6 hackers filling him with holes. Needless to say Vinnie died and lost a silenced M4, ghillie, GPS and lots of other decent equipment. Immediately the rest of us salvaged what we could from our tent and moved server before we met the same end.

So, onto a new server pitched a new tent in the same place, deposited all the stuff we'd salvaged from the old tent, jobs a gooden.

Team "Where have you spawned Vinnie"

Vinnie "Kamenka, fuck sake, fucking hackers - I'm gonna respawn and.... Oh, wait, I hear a vehicle, its beeping... ITS COMING RIGHT FOR ME!!!....."

The story transpires that the player in the vehicle picked Vinnie up and agreed to drop him just outside Berezino so he could be reunited with us. Happy days, or so we though! The server decided to restart just as they were entering Berezino and when we all rejoined the server after updating our beta patches Vinnie and the random hero were left with no jeep.

Baring in mind Vinnie had just spawned and had no equipment it would have been difficult for him to come and locate the tent where we were, we were just about to get him when the guy he was with allowed Vinnie to take his map & compass and navigate himself over to our position.

On arrival Vinnie led the guy a good bit west of our tent as it would be stupid of us to reveal where it was, The rest of us could see them through our binoculars and I began to head over to meet Vinnie and thank the other guy, while the other two watched through their binoculars ensuring that this guy wasn't about to shoot me. As I edged closer the situation became tense and we were in a bit of a stand off, but fair play to the guy instead of disconnecting he stayed and was typing 'IF YOUR GOING TO KILL ME DO IT NOW' - but why would we ? He had just helped our friend out....

Anyway after a long stand off ensuring him that we would not be killing him, he eventually left the server and we went on our merry way. This might be long winded but I thought it was a nice touch and it shows that there are decent people in the game, not many but some. He was also quite lucky that we are decent people too, cos 99/100 people would have shot him when we were in distance and looted his stuff.
