haroldsax 14 Posted August 15, 2012 Having a couple of problems regarding vehicular spawns and barbed wire unable to be removed, and is in important spots for new players. I'd like to do a mission reset for the server, essentially wipe the server clean, but I can't find much information on it. I understand I can't directly tamper with the configuration files of the server, nor is it my intention, but I'd like to actually start the server clean.Google and dayzmod search results did not return with my answer :/
Joe_Blow 11 Posted August 15, 2012 I am having the same problem. I found a post not that long agon that said try the #restart command. I did this and it look like the server was wiped cleanp; however when I resatrted the server everything came back.I think the only solution is for the Devs to clear the database. I could be wrong; however I would like someone with more knowladge to weigh in on this.
haroldsax 14 Posted August 15, 2012 I would hope that's not the solution. I've heard something about the instance ID being changed, which is a per host basis kind of a thing.
jwiechers 92 Posted August 15, 2012 It was planned that barbed wire would be automatically deleted if it is not actively maintained, I think this is still a planned feature for the near term -- and there may be wipes of old barbed wire again.I'll try to get some official answer. I know there are alot of servers admins complaining about this problem and the question remains, is there anything we can do server side to reset the map? jwiechers 92 Posted August 15, 2012 No, there is not. It is an issue that has to be fixed in the backend.
haroldsax 14 Posted August 15, 2012 Ah, so I'm taking it that a legitimate mission reset is not possible at the current moment?
Mav1976 10 Posted September 7, 2012 We have the same problem on DE 2102. After someone stole the chopper and crashed it, the chopper didn't come back. It disappeared and didn't respawn. It's 3 or 4 days ago. Same for the vehicles. Can't find any vehicle anymore. I found a bicycle in a wood, that's all. Please help.
venthos 605 Posted September 7, 2012 Once a vehicle is destroyed, it takes 7 days to respawn. This is intentional. It is not a bug.http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Vehicles#Vehicle_FAQThat's just how the game works, by design.
Mav1976 10 Posted September 7, 2012 Last time a friend of me, tried to fly the chopper and crashed it on the airfield. After a server restart, the chopper spawend instandly on the airfield. Fully repaired. Thats what i did not understand.
Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted September 7, 2012 That was prior to the latest patch, it was a bug, bugs get squashed.
venthos 605 Posted September 7, 2012 Yep. That was a bug. Things are back to normal now where you are punished for getting into helicopters without first learning to fly them first via ARMA2's training missions/armory. You should learn to effectively drive vehicles/fly helicopters before spending the time to repair/use one in DayZ, as skipping the few minutes of training (and crashing) means you wait 7 days for that vehicle to come back.
Mav1976 10 Posted September 7, 2012 I learned flying in Arma2. ;) But i am the only one of us, who can fly. My buddy wanted to learn it, but it really would have been better, if he trained it in arma2. But luckily it spawned at the crashsite by that bug. Unfortunately someone stole the heli from our base, when i was buying something to drink in the supermarket. I was 20 minutes not online and must have been seen, when i was landing the heli. That was a mess. 2 days later, the thief crashed the heli in cherno. Damn. I think he couldn't flight too and now it's gone. Hope the heli will spawn again the next days..Is it always the 7 days? Mav1976 10 Posted September 12, 2012 Ok, now its day 8 since Heli crashed. It didnt respawn. Where is it???
Mav1976 10 Posted September 12, 2012 Btw, didnt you think 7 days time to respawn is a little bit too much? 24 hours for respawn is enough.
venthos 605 Posted September 12, 2012 Ok, now its day 8 since Heli crashed. It didnt respawn. Where is it???You've checked all 8 helicopter spawn locations consistently after the 7th day and know for sure that no one else has found/repaired it after respawn and hidden it in their camp? Impressive :PI sure hope you weren't just checking the initial spawn location for brand new servers (Skalisty Island) and expecting it to respawn there. ;)I'm conflicted on the 7 day thing. You want it to be long enough so that people aren't reckless with vehicles and treat them like disposable cars/helicopters. But, it doesn't take much to knock a chopper out of the sky (nor should it -- they are fragile) and you can quickly end up never having a full compliment of vehicles and only having some small fraction of vehicles spawned on the server at any given time.I think it's a matter of just being proactive and making sure that you or another skilled squad gets the vehicles first instead of some random lone wolf who has never even flown an ARMA2 chopper before and thinks it'd be fun to repair and fly it. The game should always allow for such a retard to do it, as it's on the responsibility of the squads with proper pilots to find and repair it before those people do. torturedchunk 22 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) I recently went through this same issue. I contacted my host, who pointed me to the DayZ Devs. This is the answer I got."Unfortunately at this time we do not have the resources to process server resets. We understand your frustration and we ask you to bear with us during this time as we work on a solution to this problem."It would appear it is not possible at this time. I then asked if I could just order a new mission ID and was told to contact my host. Host told me to contact the Devs.Lol. Run Around anyone?EDIT: Also, I've heard the server must run continually for 7 days for the vehicle to respawn. This means no restarts. I have not confirmed this yet. venthos 605 Posted September 12, 2012 Lol. Run Around anyone?EDIT: Also, I've heard the server must run continually for 7 days for the vehicle to respawn. This means no restarts. I have not confirmed this yet.Not really a run around. DayZ team is saying that they don't have the resources to continually apply bandaids for an understandably buggy Alpha Mod. So, their policy (to alleviate some of the strain on the already overworked staff) is to not reset instance IDs and simply await for any bugs to be patched accordingly. This is not them confirming there's a problem with your instance ID, simply stating the limits of their policy. When you pressed further, they offered up the only alternative which would be for you to convince your host to dole out a brand new instance ID from your host's own "pool" of instance IDs. This would mean some other person would get your "old" ID most likely. But, that's what they're saying. If your host is saying "no" as well, then that's the answer. That's not a run around. Both are just saying "We won't do anything for you, but the other might". Since they both said that, you have no recourse. If you really want a new instance ID, your only action from here is to cancel/re-order. I'm still not convinced that you need one, though.Regarding the 7 continuous days, I can't see how that's true. I don't really know how a server could survive 7 days of being online and respawns are certainly working for all servers that I am aware of. I'm pretty sure nothing is tracked about your server's uninterrupted uptime, let alone uptime at all. I would be shocked if there were any truth to that claim. Run Around anyone?Any host can very, very easily cancel the existing instance ID and either use another one they have or request a new one from us.We aren't giving the run-around to anyone. We simply can't reset instance ID's at this time, but there is no reason your host can't replace your instance ID with an brand new, unused one like we have helped other hosts do. torturedchunk 22 Posted September 12, 2012 I wasn't trying to bash the Devs or my host. Just simply stating, it didn't seem as easy as one would think. We have since purchased a new server. This was the easiest way I found after trying other directions.I guess Run Around was the wrong expression to make. My bad.As far as the 7 day rule. Like I said, I heard it from a friend from a friend from a friend. I tend to agree that the server couldn't run optimally for 7 days straight.

Mav1976 10 Posted September 12, 2012 Thx for your feedback. I requestet a new ID from my hoster. I do not believe that any crashed vehicle or heli respawn. Tomorrow is the last chance to cancel that server. If they dont wanna give me a new id, i can easily quit the server and rent a new one. Maybe its the easiest way to solve that. Mav1976 10 Posted September 13, 2012 After i cancelled the server, he offered me to setup a new server, with new mission file. Normally it would cost 8,80€, because of high demand of DayZ servers, but he is generous enough to do this without the costs. But i am not sure, who is right now. Is it such a problem to get a new ID, without generating a new server?
