Will my computer operate DayZ?

Recommended Posts

Like the title says, will these specs be enough for DayZ?

Windows 7 Service Pack 1

Intel Core i5 650 @ 3.20GHz

4GB RAM DDR3

Nvidia GeForce GT420 up to 2795MB

Im asking this because CanYouRunIt shows that I can easily play Arma II on recommended settings, but Operation Arrowhead only on minimal settings, and I don't want to buy them before I know I can run them with DayZ.

There is quite a performance hit between the two, I was playing on Ultra on Arma 2 but have to drop to high for OA/Dayz. I'm using a 560ti so this doesn't help much I know, sorry.

Your video card is going to struggle.

Ok, does that mean I can still play, but with worse graphics? Or that I cant play at all...

I don't see any problems... Realistically it should be able to run DayZ.

yeah you'll be able to run it.

Just turn off AA, turn down some textures, might look a bit ugly but you know...

I assume you tried arma 2 free aswell just to get a basic idea of how your system will handle it.

I couldnt care less about textures, but I would like to have a view distance of 500m or 1000m (I heard you can change that setting) and a framerate of at least 20fps.

I personally believe you will be hard-pressed with getting 20fps with that card. It's simply not a graphics card meant for gaming. The 550M is more powerful and only gets 20fps.

Your card is ranked 272.

550m is ranked 130.

Lower is better. The 550m gets between 15-25 FPS depending on settings.

You can expect the game to be extremely sluggish. You might also expect to run and move slower than other people although this may be due to slow CPUs, I'm not exactly sure. I do know that a computer that runs the game poorly will cause people to move much slower than others. I would do as he said and try out Arma 2 free and see how well you can play that and then take into consideration that DayZ is more demanding.

You would have much better luck playing the game if you bought something like this.

Even better would be.

If you don't have the money to purchase a new graphics card then going used for gaming is much better than buying a card not meant for gaming at all. You could probably find other cards even cheaper that could run the game at the same settings. I just did two quick searches.

Also, if you do end up buying a more powerful video card like the ones I listed you will want to make sure your power supply will run them along with the rest of the components in your computer. They are going to take a good bit more power; I would assume at least 100watts more.
