DayZ only working with ArmA C.O.?

First of Hello. I'm bloody new here as you may find out for what I'm going to ask here but i just wanted to make sure before I do make a mistake.

So is DayZ going to work with a Physical copy of Arma II (That I got) or just digital Steam ones are going to work it. And if i buy Operation Arrowhead as a Physical copy rather then from Steam will that work. Or do I need to buy ArmA II Combined Operations from Steam?

I have a physical copy of Arma2 and a digital copy of Operation Arrowhead from https://store.bistudio.com/ and it works just fine. I cant vouch for steam but it should work. you may have to do some tinkering with shortcuts.

But support your developer and get it straight from them. Its smooth and almost as fast download as steam. And more of your money goes to the davs.

Just install arma2 first (and run it once?). to get arrowhead's installer to make everything work like magic.

I got retail copies of A2 and A2 OA that I bought separately.

Install ArmA 2 then install A2 OA and it'll create Combined Operations for you.

I prefer retail because it's easier to mod (Less folders to go into) and it's easy to use the beta patches with them.

Alright. Thanks for clarification. I just like physical copies much better for some reason then just digital ones.
