Temporary Fix for STEAM users getting lag since new patch.

Recommended Posts

[sorry if this has already been discussed]

At first i thought my issue was related to my video card/drivers. I was playing DayZ fine all day yesterday till i joined back in at night to play with friends and i got really bad FPS. I thought it was because i was messing with my CCC to get Skyrim looking all pretty (totally different gfx issue).

What makes me believe it is not related to anyone's hardware/drivers...

1) I did a clean sweep of everything AMD related to my video card.

2) I was playing all day fine with no game updates in between the during me playing at day then at night.

[FIX]

Right click game in steam > Go to properties > Local Files > Validate

It should find 1 missing file every time AFTER you start up ARMA II.

If it does find it missing and recovers it, try restarting your game and playing DayZ. It has worked every time like it should since that.

I know it will be annoying validating your game every time after you play but at least you may be able to play again.

The file that it seems to be missing is something related to BattleEye.

So if you are a non-STEAM user maybe you could find the installer for the AC software and give that a go.

he means steam library>arma 2:oa>properties>local files>verfiy game cache. after verifying, it always finds 1 file and replaces it, thats right, but this doesnt fix the fps problem. i think your fps just drops "randomly" like it is for me.

when i close the game completely, restart it and then join a server (if iam SUPER LUCKY, of course, to manage this and find a server with an empty slot which at the same time doesnt get me stuck in the lovely "waiting for server response" afterwards), then, sometimes, i have NORMAL fps. then i can set graphics to very high and everything runs smoothly. BUT when i die, or when i change the server without restarting the whole game, then the fps ALWAYS drops to unplayable level. then i can change graphics settings to very low or very high, resolution 640x480 or 1920x1080, it all makes no difference.

but it seems that it doesnt nessecarily has something to do with restarting the game. because it often happens for me that fps is at unplayable level after a fresh game restart. thats why i called the fps drops "randomly". think we have to wait for the devs to fix this..

Hmm if i verify, it works the next time i play. If i leave a server and join another one it starts lagging again. Restarting never helped me, verifying is the only thing that lets me play lag free.

Having this issue : I play arma 2 for a while, but then my fps suddently drops to really low. Really annoying. It fixed itself random after a few hours with reboots and restars of the game etc etc. The method above does not work for me. Really annoying :/
