syncmaster (DayZ) 63 Posted August 14, 2012 First I want to say I will not advertise, link, or ask for support of any unofficial servers at the moderators request. I understand that it is okay to talk about private servers/hives now, and I am glad because I have been waiting to start this topic for a while now. Please, to anyone that replies, respect their wishes and do the same.I have been trying out a few private servers lately, and some of them have a nice little feature. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but when we get the bigger hacks ( whole sever teleported into the sky, thunderdomed, etc) the admins will shut the server down with a command. It will pretty much act like a server restart, but somehow they rollback to an earlier save. When the server comes back up (usually in less than 5 minutes) everything is fine and the hacker has been found and banned. You will be in the spot you were at before you were moved, you will have all your gear, and even if you die it will be like it never happened. So basically, hacking = fixed.Okay, I imagine this will not weed out hackers all together. If they are careful about it and don't get greedy no one will really have a clue they exist. However, in the current state of DayZ, even slightly fixing the problem is a FN miracle IMO. I'm sure everyone would agree with me on that. This seems to at least get rid of the worst kind of hacking, like the game breaking stuff that everyone hates. I constantly read people saying that hackers can't be dealt with in this mod while I am staring a solution right in the face. I'm just not sure why this is not being used officially, of if it can even be done. Now that I have put this out there on to my only question. Why can't official servers do this?
syncmaster (DayZ) 63 Posted August 14, 2012 Mod post stating the rules and that this should be okay:Alright. Here is the deal...You're allowed to discuss about private hives/private servers, you just can't link or instruct on how to do them. At the moment the DayZ Team are not supporting this as they are probably busy with multiple other things, infact I would like to say that most things not supported via DayZ (Private Hives, Lingor Island, etc... ) are probably allowed to be discussed without punishment as long as you don't explain how to do so. While I encourage and support what you do, I will still not state how to do it nor allow anyone to do so... Even if it is ridiculously easy to find out how. syncmaster (DayZ) 63 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Good to know, but I won't hold my breath waiting for battleye to help us out.I just figured this is some basic computer/programing thing that I fail to understand. If there was a solution I doubt this post is going to be a wake up call or something and lead to fixing the problem. I'm just curious.
