Do you keep to the easy to find weapons or rare weapon's?

Recommended Posts

Ok so last night. I was in the hills by elektro trying to find some animals to eat. When I saw another player with the Taliban cloth on his head. He was heading towards the fire station. I shot him with my Lee Enfield rifle and killed him with 1 single bullet. Now usually I don't shoot before asking if there friendly. But since the new patch separates the bandits to the survivors I thought I may as well kill him. So I went over to his body and he has a AK 74 on him. Now in the 2 weeks I have been playing this game I have never found a AK 74 before but I have saw people with them.

He has 2 mags with the AK. After a good 5 minutes thinking weather I should pick it up and drop the Lee Enfield. I stuck with the Lee Enfield as the Lee Enfield is powerful and the ammo can be found anywhere. Where the AK I have barely saw before and I have never saw any ammo for it in every building I have looted.

So my question is. Would you keep your Lee Enfield or Double Barrel ShotGun or Winchester if you found a rare weapon?

I know ammo for the rare weapon's can be found in a few places but I tend to keep around the coast line so I know witch way to go when I die.

Id take my chances with the rare weapon. Especially if i have a sidearm.

It's always nice to have a rare weapon. Even with 2 mags of the AK74(which i dont consider rare :P) that is more than enough. I wont use it on zombies, i rarely see players. I usually get killed before i do. And it has a higher rate of fire than the lee.

AK's are pretty common spawns especially the more north you get. if your worried about hacked weapons check out the weapons table on the Wiki for an entire list of the weapons in game currently.

AK mags are harder to find but the guns accuracy and damage dealt is great.

I use basic weapons at the beginning, and move up as I get better gear. I usually stick with a mid-tier weapon (M4/AK/variants), as the ammo can be found much more than the high-tier weapons. I can find lots of ammo for high-tier, but only at the hotspots, which I don't visit more than 1 or 2 times per life. Enfield is a good weapon for a while, until you get up into the central map, and get all the deer-stands near you. Those will yield good weapons, and tons of ammo for those.

Go with the AK, it isn't a rare gun really. you can find lots of ammo for it, hit up the fire stations if you want to stay at the coast, but staying at the coast is just a way to make your untimely death even more untimely. head north and hit up deer stands on the way to stary sabor and you will see lots of nice military gear that isn't too rare, lots of guns use either the STANAG or AK mags so you shouldn't need to worry about ammo.

If it was an FN FAL, PP19, AS50 etc then the ammo is very rare and can usually only be found on helicopter crash sites, but again, the guns are often so much better that its worth taking and using till they run out. I usually run with a sniper and a PP19 silenced as it lets me keep range when needed and be silent up close, which is great for when you got to the airfield.

I say experiment with new loot, you never know what works best for you till you try it.

Happy Hunting.

Thanks for the advice. At the moment I seem to be doing fine with the Enfield as it is ushally a one shot kill on all zeds and 1 or 2 shots for humans. I have come accross plenty of STANAG mags but I have never found the M4A1 :(.

I tend to find a lot of AK ammo at firestations. My current weapon of choice is an AK Kobra. Ammo isn't as hard to find as some of the other weapons but there is plenty to be found, I rarely run out of ammo and only really use it when things go a bit south.

Edit, the STANAG ammo is useful for quite a lot of guns, if you have the bag space then keep it.

I do like the Enfield though, it kept me company for a long time before I dared go North

AKs aren't too uncommon I found 3 in one firestation once. Just hit up any military spawns (deerstands, firestations, military tents, hangars, etc.) and you'll find plenty of AK ammo as well as the AK variants as well as the M4 variants and STANAG ammo.

Only rare gun I've really passed up is an FN FAL I found on a heli crash with no ammo since it wasn't worth dropping my AKS-74 Kobra with 6 mags for it.

Ak's and AK varients are a dime a dozen. trying leaving the electro safety net ( LOL not a really safe place) and explore the world. stary sobor benezino have military tents. find a heli crash site. those spawn rare weapons. unless this guy is holding L85 AWS M41 CCO sd m107 Fal and FAL NV variant its not rare not to mention a slew of LMG . leave the southern coast. Go forth dayz wiki has some vital information to pour over

AKs, and shotguns aren't rare. M4s, mp5s and m16s are a little rarer, but not very. Even high end gear is easy to find if you stay alive long enough to search a bit. I've found 2 NVG, 2 AS50,1 M107, 1 rocket launcher, 3 M4 SD, 2 m24, all in the last week of playing. I still have yet to find a L85, Bizon, MK48, rangefinders or satchel charges myself, although my clan has found several of each.

The one gun I want, and that I have never seen spawn, is the CZ550. Rarest gun in the game if you ask me.
