Confused about PC/GFX spec

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm not that much of a PC gamer to be honest, so most of the PCs i've owned haven't been built for gaming, however, my current PC should be able to handle most current games at at least 'Normal' settings.

I bought ArmA2:CO for the purposes of playing DayZ, followed all the installation instructions etc, but find the game chugs really bad where graphics are concerned. Even with everything set to low/very low/disabled, it's still a nightmare.

I've defragged, updated drivers, cleaned registry etc etc, but can't make this game run any faster. Here's my spec -

CPU - AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor 3.0ghz

GFX - nvidia Geforce 405, 1gb dedicated RAM, Pixel/Vertex Shader version 5.0

DirectX runtime ver: 11 (though underneath it states DirectX Support 10.1, not sure what the difference is)

RAM - 4GB

OS - Windows 7 64bit SP1

Plenty of HD space

Any suggestions on what's the problem? Is the graphics card really the weak link in the chain even though it seems to meet the games requirements? Any upgrade recommendations would also be welcome, thanks!

Sorry if this topic has been done to death, I need some proper help is all.

My specs are pretty similar.

"Gtx 460 1gb Athlon 640 4gb ram Windows 7 64bit

Even i get lag. On my friends computer he runs a 7970 and an I5. yet he still gets lag.

I would say this is a patch error.
