If you do surf pornsites alot, there will be ads for porn...

For instance, if you send a mail to your friend, google searches your mail for keywords, and then your friend might get ads about certain things. If you sent a mail regarding holidays, there might be beach holiday ads and such. So the ads are basicly your interests, more or less.

The best explanation as to why you should NOT have more than one antivirus is: (same thing applies to firewalls)

No, WRONG! Antivirus programs clash with each other, a bit like two guys fighting over one chick.

AV programs work at a low level whereas other programs run at high level. It is ok to have multiple instances of, lets say, web browsers as they just connect to the net then close down completely when you are finished surfing and they operate on the higher level.

So what actually happens is when you have two programs working at low level is they trip over each other causing program crashes and system lockups.

Most antivirus programs operate in two modes:

Scan Mode: the program examines the memory and files on your hard disk for traces of malware. This involves examining the contents each file for traces that ‘look like’ viruses.

Monitor Mode: usually called or referred to as ‘real time monitoring’, the program runs constantly scanning files as they are downloaded to your machine, notifying you if the file you just received contains something that appears to be a virus.

It’s ok to scan with a different antivirus program than your normal resident scanner as all that happens is the program will scan, report it findings then it will close down. Online scanners are good for second opinions. But if you install a second AV program it will (or should) inform you that another antivirus program has been detected and to uninstall it, if you choose to ignore this warning it will then install its own ‘real time monitors’ and that is when the problems will start – lockups, poor performance and crashes."

Did I say they are all actively running at once? No I did not, I disable all of them aside from MSE when I do not need them then run a bi-monthly scan using each to remove obvious problems. They all pick up different things and eliminate different problems which are independent to only them, this is extremely useful.

As for the guy saying he uses multiple AVs.....

There is a reason that when you install Norton, or AVG, or Avast, or ESET, or any other actual AV, it tells you to make sure you uninstall any other AV, and some of them actually prevent you from installing so long as one is installed.

Most "good" antivirus programs will come with active scanning. You can only have one running at a time.

Most AV's will conflict with each other, and cause degrading performance for each piece of software.

Installing something like ESET and something like Malwarebytes, is fine, unless you turn on (paid) Malwarebytes' active scanning.

Also, you said you have Norton installed? Norton gives more viruses than it protects against.

Also, just FYI, you cannot install ESET with another AV installed (such as Norton and AVG) it will tell you its installed and force you to uninstall it. So....troll much? =P

You're running 4 different Antivirus Programs? Yeowch! I know people do have multiple antivirus installs on their PC but only for on-demand scans. Having them all run at once can't be good for your computer. :-/

As for the porn, hey, you certainly aren't the only one that enjoys a little alone time in front of the computer. But what's wrong with finding a trusted site with the stuff you need, and stick with it instead of exposing yourself to an array of malware-infested websites?

Considering you "clicked" the link, why wouldn't the F be capitalized? If you clicked that link, and didn't simply type it as you saw it, and you got redirected, you have a google redirect and need to scan.

Clearly you've never installed any ESET programs. Just because a service isn't running, doesn't mean it cannot find it in the registry.
