Is there a certain way you need to log out to not lose all of your gear?

Recommended Posts

I just started playing yesterday when i logged in earlier today i was spawned at a beach, not where i logged out and all of my stuff is missing. I thought what ever just started from scratch then had to go somewhere I hit escape and then abort, it takes me to the server menu and then i disconnect/log from the server, when i came back same thing logged on a beach all my stuff is missing again.

I'm not sure if this matters but i just hit quick join because when i manually select US servers they wont log in or lag like a mo-fo. So i just started using quick join and i dont have lag disconnect issues.

So please tell me what I am doing wrong or if there is a certain way i'm supposed to log out to not lose my gear a 3rd time.

It might matter that you changed servers. From what I understand (and I only partially understand this) there are "hive" and "non-hive" servers. If you obtain gear on a non-hive server and then go back onto a hive, you will lose it. I think non-hive servers are created that way to help new players learn the game; they discourage player vs. player action, etc.

Sounds like a random bug. Escape / Abort is the normal way to log out and generally there are no problems with it.

Edit: Good point Cindy, I didn't even think about the non-hive servers.

Is there a way to tell which ones are hive and non hive servers? if not i'll probably have to write down my server number and remember to always log into that one.

to clear things up

hive servers= official dayz servers (on all hive servers u hhave same character)

non hive server (aka sanctuary servers) = private servers with local private hives (not official. ur character data is only saved for one precise server, or several servers hosted by same person with ssame hive)

if u play on hive servers, ther eis a certain delay between u picking up stuff and hive actually registering that stuff has been added to ur inventory (or simpy called lag), so after picking up stuff, u shud ewait a bit before disconnecting, or u might lose stuff.

on non hive servers, its pertty much the same story, but since the private hives are less used by players, i guess the lag is not as obvious.

also, beware about switching weapons, always wait a bit before disconnected after picking u pa gun or u might lose it

to see a hive server from a non hive server, carefully read the names, everything is usually indicated in the name of the server

There is no way to know for SURE but a lot of the non-hive servers do not use the same naming convention which the Hive servers are required to use (so when you see a server named Mr Winkies Wanky World you know for sure it's non Hive)

To clarify.

If you were to obtain your gear on a non hive server, you would need to repeatedly play on that server (as the character data is stored on that server basically) to play that 'life'.

If you accidentally joined a non hive server, all you would have to do is leave that server and join a hive server and you would have your old character in its old position.

Now onto 95883 and 1.7.2.5

**THIS WILL SPAWN YOU ON COAST WITH ALL YOUR CURRENT GEAR**

There is a new mechanic to protect us from dis connectors and server hoppers; When you disconnect and try to join another server immediately, it detects this as you server hopping to come up behind a player and forces you to wait to load like 5-10 minutes. Most people are seeing this as a 'hang on load' issue and cntrl+alt+dlt

this corrupts your characters position data and the patch they put in to fix debug forest was when a players data becomes corrupted your spawned on coast.

What you need to do is log out and wait like 5 minutes before trying to log in again. It sucks but its better than risking your gear next to cherno (w m107 and l85?)

phew lol
