Shane75776 1 Posted August 14, 2012 My main question is spawning. When you first spawn in the game, are you just randomly placed on somewhere? or are you spawned nearby where other players also spawn? also, when you d/c from the server and then r/c do you spawn in the same location that you d/c from?My last question is about server size. I read that the map is pretty huge and servers only have 50 people max. This seems very small to me for the map size that is given. Do you come across players often or do you hardly ever see other players because of the map size?Hope my questions are not to stupid, but thanks in advance to anyone who can help answer these for me :)
Ped 80 Posted August 14, 2012 (edited) Check out this map -> http://dayzdb.com/mapIf you scroll in along the coast and other areas, you will see small black mountain like icons. These are spawn points. You can spawn at any of these randomly. Yes, there are many spawn points. Apparently the RNG (random number generator) sucks though because I think a majority of the community will argue over 50% of the time they respawn at Kamenka.Your location is SUPPOSED to be saved in the Hive (the public database containing all your user info) so that when you log out you log back at the same spot. But lately it's been buggy. I hazard a guess it's due to the two versions of DayZ that are out there now interfering with the Hive somehow forcing a respawn.Server sizes range from 40 upwards to 70. I've even seen 90 but that server had major lag issues. As far as finding other players, there are some tips and tricks associated with this. It genuinely depends on your interests. New players tend to flock to Cherno and Elektro, the two big cities along the southern coastline. These cities are aptly named Deathmatch zones. You go there to fight other players. But because it's a hotspot for player combat, the hills around the cities are often filled with snipers sniping people inside the city. Also, this is where most hackers go with their godmode invulnerability and different skins to freak people out.The other locations on the map where players tend to flick towards are those with Military loot spawns. Namely the NorthWest Airfield. It is literally a deathtrap though as there is always a sniper or two on 'overwatch' ready to snipe anyone who comes nearby. Clans love to farm the spawn points for ammo stockpiles and new weapons. Stary Sober is the same. NorthEast Airfield isn't so often farmed as it doesn't have a high value spawn. Here's a semi-pro tip for you when traveling the map. Use binoculars or a scoped rifle to examine a town you come across from afar. If you see Zombies, a player is either there right now or very recently been through. Zombies only spawn when players approach and despawn shortly thereafter.Goodluck! Edited August 14, 2012 by Ped

Pretty sure those are just large rock formations. Edited August 14, 2012 by Angryofficer
.Ender. 42 Posted August 14, 2012 You definitely need to partner up. Im trying to find ANYONE to team up with right now...as without a weapon Im not able to scavenge the buildings because they're occupied by zombies. So basically you're screwed without a weapon. Making it now so ppl dont start with a pistol at least was just stupid. To make it worse...Im in pitch black and need blood, food, and a weapon lol... aggressivek 22 Posted August 14, 2012 1. If you're just spawning into the game for the first time on a new character you will spawn somewhere random across the coast. You will only spawn near cities by the coast, never anywhere else. You always have a chance of a player spawning somewhere near you, either they are r/c or just starting on a new character like you, there will always be a chance but its low.2. Yes, whenever you log out, you will re-spawn back in that same spot on any server you join and so on.3. There are some servers that hold up to 65, 70, and 100 even. But for most servers the max limit is 50 and it just depends on where you're traveling and what towns/cities you're in. I can say that when I go into a high populated server of 25+ I can run around in the towns that don't have hospitals, supermarkets, etc, without seeing a single person. But when I go into a bigger city like Electro or Cherno I always see people because most people always flock to those cities to find guns and supplies.
