How to actually install an arma 2 patch?

So I get the endless loading screen problem, a lot. Probably 6/10 of the servers I choose to join will end up being stuck in loading. I read people saying updating the patch could help. So i go to where you download the patch and I install the "Arma2_OA_Build_95883.zip", extract the file, run the file and it says the installation was successful. I then run arma 2 OA on steam again and in the game's main menu bottom right corner it still says "Version 1.62.95248". I dont know if my installing steps were wrong or it just doesn't display what actual version I have, but this whole thing is just wasting so much of my time.

You look at the list of servers and every server seems to be running a different version, some are "1.62.95248", some just says "1.62", some are "1.62.95417", and there are way more and im not gonna list them all. For some servers which has a different version than mine it is in red and I can't join those, then there are servers which are neither 95883 nor 95248 but the numbers are not in red and I can join them, this almost makes it seem as if its all just pointless and it is determining which I can join and which i cannot thru nothing but randomness.

Through personal experience I dont even know if the whole "join servers which shares the same version as your own or else you will be stuck in loading forever" theory holds true. I've been stuck trying to join servers which I believe shares the same version as mine, while on the other hand have been able to join servers which has a DIFFERENT version than mine. Again, it all just feels randomized....and its very annoying to not know whether you will be stuck or not before you join, then you DO get stuck and have to reboot arma 2 again

Run the Beta as admin....dont care about any CD key´s issues...just hit ok....

It seems that you are not using the shortcut you get when applying the Beta.....you find it in your OA folder...called " Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch"

Run that to start your ARMA with that Beta.

ANd also....Always look in ARMA what ARMA has loaded or not....window before MP, right down corner....dont trust other application on this for now.

It seems if I try to start arma through the "Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch", it isn't going to activate the DayZ mod, it just starts the regular Arma2 game

You do have installed Dayz right?

In Expansions, window before MP...you tell ARMA what mod he´s supposed to load.....check the @Dayz box and enable it...that should do it.

Well there must be multiple ways to launch arms 2 OA with dayz mod because the way I was taught to do it is right click on Arma2OA in Steam, go to properties and type in -mod=@dayz in the launch options, Im not exactly sure how to do it your way with the "In expansion, window before MP" thing. Is there no way to launch arma 2OA with the updated patch through steam?

Sorry, dont really know, I dont use Steam.....

The " -mod=@dayz " should start the mod.....

I launch arma2 OA exe from the OA / Expansion / beta folder

It's not enough just to INSTALL the beta patches, you also have to RUN them.

Steam runs OA from the folder ...\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\

but the beta exe is in ...\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta

You need to go to the location ...\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta

and copy OA.exe and paste it to the location ...\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\

This has to be done EVERY time after you manually update the beta.
