Its a 2500k OC'ed to 5Ghz. and no nik the problem is that when i turn on the eye candy it stays at the low usage and the fps is shit. its plays BF3 on ultra so bottleneck is not a problem.

If you turn Antialising, post processing effects and other GPU based shit to the max, your GPU will be easily at 100% load. If the GPU is below 100% load, another component of your computer is responsible for low fps.

Same problem here .

I have 2x580´s and they are both at 35 % usage . Worst thing is that when i am using fraps both gpu usage drops below 16 % + SLi indicator is not showing anything . CPU : i7 965

Right, i have just closed dayz and opened bf3 without closing a single program and my gpu fully utalised. there is no program in the background stopping it.

There is no problem with your GPU, neither with DayZ/ Arma 2. If your GPU is at 60% Utilisation and your fps is still crap, it's because of the server/ your CPU/ your HDD/ your RAM or whatsoever. Got that?

Ok so let me get this straight you expect a GPU that is at 60% usage to give good FPS when settings are turned up? and my PC is not the problem or are you saying bf3 is more demanding? and i have also used different servers. Got that?

I said when a GPU is at 60% usage it is not the bottleneck causing shit fps. You should try to find out your minimum fps in the Arma 2 Benchmarks. Just turn AA and the resolution down to make sure the GPU is not bottlenecking and run Benchmark 01 and 02 located in Arma 2 Singleplayer - Scenarios.

I have this problem as well. I used to never hit full GPU use (even with ArmA2 w/o DayZ). Using the startup option -winxp got that fixed and ArmA plays pretty well now. But I still often see times while playing DayZ that my GPU and CPU (all cores) are below 60% use (plus I have an SSD and plenty of bandwidth) and my FPS sucks.

[Note: Also, if you play windowed, turn off all the screen decoration shit (Aero). It seems to cause the same issue (at least for me), that running without -winxp did. Even if you use -winxp while windowed, it brought those symptoms back]

There doesn't appear to be a hardware bottleneck, it seems to be a bug that maybe the drivers or game are waiting for something unnecessarily.

Basically, my hardware is sitting there twiddling its thumbs and waiting for the game to give it something to do, so the FPS drops. This happens randomly, different servers, locations, number of players, etc. I play a lot on private servers with side chat and I often ask if anyone else is experiencing it, and the answer is always no.
