[1.7.2.4]My graphic artifacts are completely gone

Recommended Posts

My spec:

ATI 5770 (Catalyst 12.6)

Intel Q6600

DDR2 8GB

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value

Screen resolution (1280 x 1024)

DayZ version: 1.7.2.4

Beta ARMA patch: 95883

Option setting: All normal except Postprocessing=Low & VRAM=Default

---

I found out very interesting thing.

All the artifacts only shows up when I join server (1.7.2.4) /w Beta patch version less than 95883 (Ex. 95417)

When I join with server running 95883, I can go to Balota airstrip, Stary Sober, International Airfield, Berezino without any problem. NO artifacts at all from dead soldiers.

Does this mean rocket's 1.7.2.4 is completely Okay, and 1.7.2.5's fix was not needed? Now I am thinking that ARMA's beta patch screwed up with something at the moment of rocket released 1.7.2.4 (You know they almost came out in same time). I noticed their last beta patch added new graphical options (ATOC and stuff). They might have fixed something from 95883.

Please confirm or deny my findings.

I didn't get the geometry mess often prior to the latest patch, and the flush command fixed it every time, but unfortunately I am still getting it. Flush still works for me though, and I don't seem to get it any more often than I did before.

Which patch do you mean? ARMA beta patch or DayZ patch?

We were all getting annoying artifacts from 1.7.2.4. So we all assumed 1.7.2.4 screwed it up.

However, I remembered that Sixupdater released 95417 at the exact same moment (The patch added new graphical options).

Now 1.7.2.5 is released and some people saying artifacts are fixed, and some don't. By logical thinking 1.7.2.5 most likely not be the factor of artifacts since all of us are running 1.7.2.5.

There can be a factor of system configuration or driver version, but I would disregard that difference due to two reasons. First of all, we can assume drivers are pretty much stable from NVIDIA or AMD since I don't hear any disfunction from other game communities in the same time. Secondly, Two groups of having artifacts and no artifacts are almost equal in number.

Which means it cannot be caused by system configuration unless we have 50-50 chance of having 2 specific combination in this community.

I noticed that number of servers that have patched to 95883 is 50-50. This matches up with hypothesis of people getting into server beta patched under 95883 experiences artifacts and people who are getting into 95883 do not regardless of DayZ version.

My 2 cents goes to ARMA beta patch screwed up something from 95417 and partially fixed it from 95883...

I'm talking about the DayZ patch.

Would that might because of total number of 95883 /w 1.7.2.5 is higher than number of 95883 /w 1.7.2.4?

Summed up number of 95883 almost equal to non-95883, but it is possible that number of 1.7.2.5 servers are superior in the pool of 95883 servers...
