New multi-thousand gaming computer lagging like crazy. <5fps =(

Recommended Posts

So I recently built this new computer that should and does sh!t all over every game out there i have tested. (including arma 2)

Specs:

liquid cooled AMD FX-8150 8core cpu clocked at 4.7ghz

8gb G-skill ddr3 2133mhz ram

2x liquid cooled AMD radeon 7970 graphics cards clocked at 1200mhz core 1600mhz ram

cougar 1000w 80+ bronze power supply

cpu temps stay under 60c

gpu temps stay under 80c

all overclocking has been 48hour stability tested

I run arma 2 at over 100fps most of the time

this kind of system should not lag on a dx9 game.

I know i know i have heard the ohh the server prolly just needs to be restarted

i have seen that problem before

my problem is that on most servers i log in and im at 45fps (totaly fine) for like 1/4 a seccond then it drops to under 20 and usually levels out around 12 (unplayable)

on some servers i log in and its up in the 90+ range (usual fps) and then drops down to less than 10fps fast usually leveling out around 3-5 (totally 100% unplayable)

I have the latest crossfire profiles and have tried playing with and without crossfire enabled with the exact same results.

why am i getting this horrid lag?!?

I have tried all image quality settings with no luck, same framerate on lowest everything as on highest everything,

any advice at all would be hugely helpful.

thanks =)

some servers have not been restarted for quite a while and if they also don't have players, that means none of the spawned items are picked up and it lags like fuck.

Other than that try drivers, get a ssd and install arma 2 there(though you probably have already), shitty sli/crossfire support, try using 1 gpu.

I get 60 pfs on some servers, and then last night, I got 11 and 3 fps on two other servers. Probably server fault I think.

I have an overclocked Radeon 5850, with Cat 12.4 drivers.

i have dayz on my ocz vertex 3 ssd already.

ill try night servers although i would rather play at day.

this has happened on most servers i played on (been on probably 50ish different ones) and i havent noticed a single time over 30fps consistantly

any tweaks or changes i can make to force the game to use more of my gpu/cpu? i noticed while playing my cpu is at 15-20% load and my graphics are at 40-60%?

thanks again for the help
