How do you host a server on a private machine?

Ok so i have been going through the posts about servers but nothing really explains how to set it up, i got the part about registering the server and all the Admin rules, Server settings, and system requirements but thats about it. I would assume its just something like setting up a Vanilla Arma 2 server but changing the reporting address but im not sure since this is a mod.

Also i mean private as in private server machine, not a password locked server.
