How to prevent gamma correction from ruining nighttime play (somewhat technical)

Or just limit the hdr precision in a similiar way that shrub density and view distance is limited.

If you limit everyone to 8-bit hdr precision then any imbalance is solved.

Turning gamma to 2.0 and slapping HDR effects has quite impact on night time servers...

I agree with Stamz, blacking out those gray pixels is the way I'd pick if it's possible. Maybe it could even black out less in time to simulate eye being accustomed to the darkness, and then the darkness would get reset if you looked at a flare/chemlight/gunfire/etc.

Like it would slowly turn from the pic in post #24 to the last pic in post #21 but never to the first pic in post #21. And If you looked at a bright object it would reset to pic #24 again.

I mostly play this game at night, and it's pretty brutal. Unless you have flares you can throw every few minutes, gameplay is impractical without turning up the gamma/brightness/HDR. My suggestion would be to just use the full moon night as the default night setting. I was able to play with normal gamma/brightness/HDR with the full moon, but it still looked dark enough to give a good atmosphere.
