Can someone explain damage in DayZ for me?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I was wondering how the actual damage in BP is calculated.

I know that for example a G17 does 883 damage as of now.

Naturally headshots deal alot more damage.

Can someone tell me which hitzones there are and how the damage alternates? (percentage based?)

Also: Can someone tell me if and how does damage decrease with distance?

Before someone tells me to google it: I tried. Either I sucked at it big time or there is no easy access to a damage explanation of DayZ/ArmA2

Generally, headshots kill anyone and anything. 1 round.

After that, any hits anywhere does the max damage, which for the G17 is 889 damage. Now, if you take a hit to the legs, you have a high chance for them to break (I think they have like 600 health to defend against breaking).

From what I can tell, distance does not decrease damage, the round just drops (unless you are zero'd in correctly, only applicable with certain weapons). Larger caliber rounds have a high chance of knocking the victim out. You bleed for like 60 health every few seconds, until you stop the wound from gushing blood.

Please note: Silenced weapons have reduced range, but I have not properly tested to see if they do travel slower than regular rounds.

EDIT: Also, I don't know if it is a bug, but sometimes smaller caliber rounds, like the Makarov's 9x18, don't cause bleeding. Could also be a desync error.
