Aren't Z's supposed to die with one shot?

Recommended Posts

I ask because it always seems to take me three (I know I'm hitting becaue I see the impact). So what's up with that? Do the Z's have to bleed out or something before they die?

I think it depends on where you shoot them, like if you shoot them in the head, they would die faster than you shooting them in the leg, and the distance and what you're shooting them with, all of these have to do with it. But, no, they don't always die with one blow.

With the markarov is usually takes 3 to the body but headshots should usually be 1 shot dead. So aim better! :P

Feel free to correct if wrong:

Any headshot is lethal.

Chest shots:

Makarov, G17 and M9 are 3

M9SD I believe is 4

M1911 and Revolver is 1

STANAG weapons is 2

AK-74 variants is 2

AKM is 1

Snipers are 1

MP5 variants is 3

M249 is 2

M240 and Mk48 is 1

FAL is 1

It should then also be noted that all damage goes down at increasing ranges.

How quickly it does so depends on what round you're using.

For example, the damage of the 5.56 goes down somewhat quickly, while the 7.62s have a higher range.

The .50s, M107 and AS50 sniper rifles, should keep their lethality at extreme ranges, above and beyond one click.

Some of this is from normal ArmA experience, as I haven't used all of those weapons in DayZ.

I have noticed on some servers (I'm assuming it's a latency issue, or a me being derpy issue), they can be shot in the head (there's an obvious visual feedback, the face texture goes all red), but will take a minute or two before playing the dying animation. So if you're sure you hit it, it might just be catching up to it's animation.
