bazbake 456 Posted August 12, 2012 So I'm stuck at 2500 humanity. Haven't gained any humanity after hours of playing since the update. Which means it looks like I've never gained humanity since playing this game. But here are the stories I hear.I lost 5000 humanity killing someone but gained back to 2500 in a few hours.I gained 150 humanity by killing two zeds.My humanity dropped below 0 to -200 but in a few hours I had gotten back up to 2000.So, have we figured out what's true or not? I don't mean the specific numbers, I just want to know what exactly people are doing to earn any humanity and how exactly they know it's working? I haven't had the opportunity to heal anyone or shoot any bandits (the one person I tried to heal after he was eaten by zombies took off running into the woods and the only bandits I've seen are hackers or on servers where I keep getting kicked for some unknown reason) in the last two days.Is my humanity bugged or are there specific conditions for when and how you can earn humanity that are different based on how much humanity you have at any given time?
tsandrey 379 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) http://www.dayzwiki....?title=HumanityEDIT: Actually that's Pre- 1.5.8! Nevermind Edited August 12, 2012 by TSAndrey
echosyp 56 Posted August 12, 2012 Humanity is lost for injuring another player or killing them.Humanity is gained for helping another player. IE. blood bags, morphine, pain killers, ect.Over time your humanity will begin to go back toward zero. So if you have 1000 over time it will go down toward zero and if you have -1000 it will go back up toward zero until you do something else.I have not gained any humanity yet from killing a zombie. No one has lost humanity by just standing around so far from what I've heard. The Pre-1.5.8 rules still seem to be in effect, which explains why I'm stuck at 2500. Although it also means bandits who snipe lose less humanity than bandits who shoot you with shotguns. And that's just...weird.On a side note, it does seem that under this system farming humanity is a losing proposition. If you can lose up to 6,000-7,000 humanity for killing someone, that's 40 blood packs. I'd like to see a humanity loss for shooting someone even if you don't kill them. Maybe just enough to counter the 20-point gain from using bandages.
Static (DayZ) 1 Posted August 12, 2012 Although it also means bandits who snipe lose less humanity than bandits who shoot you with shotguns. That actually makes sense to me. If I had to choose between sniping someone from half a kilometer away, or dealing a death blow up close with a shotgun, I'm pretty sure I'd feel a lot more torn up by the latter option. echosyp 56 Posted August 12, 2012 I constantly lose humanity for just sitting around at our camp, so no idea what you are experiencing. I've just been sitting at camp for 3 days now just talking and watching my server and I've went from -17,000 humanity down to -13,000 now. Also we tested it by shooting a team member in the leg with an M9SD so my other team member could heal him to get the hero skin. I lost about 100 humanity every time I shot him in the leg.

FoxHoundSnake 0 Posted August 13, 2012 I think what Desync was saying might be correct. When I logged in at the update, my humanity was 2500. When I logged back in, it was 4200. Now it's at 4100 after many times of logging in and out. During this time I didn't kill anyone, not even any zeds. It could just be a bug or something, since I'm not sure how it went up by so much after one time.
Jgut90 71 Posted August 14, 2012 What happens to the humanity when a bandit kills another bandit?
Jepix 20 Posted August 19, 2012 Seriously, whenever i login somethimes i just (out of nowhere) seem to have -13000 ish humanity! My zombie kills & bandit kills are reset to 0, got all my ammo again (all mags are filled) but the humanity sticks at -13000 ish and never goes away (after relogging or something) so i mostly get KOSed even harder now since they think i'm a bandit while i'm not!! Daring 12 Posted August 19, 2012 For some reason mine fluctuates between 250, 0, and -100000
naizarak 41 Posted August 19, 2012 i believe humanity is gained from killing zombies
Pook (DayZ) 0 Posted August 20, 2012 I have no idea how humanity works, helping other players through healing works fine. I do however have an idea that if you kill zed in proximity to another player you gain humanity.
