How does the mic system work?

Hello i was wondering how the mic system works. Do you hear everyone on the server? Or only people within a few meters or so? How about talking? If you say something who hears it? And if you type somethings who sees it and so on. Thanks

if you press . or , you scroll through the available channels, side channel is the blue chat most people use to talk to everyone, global is essentially the same thing only in a different color. Direct is your local chat but it is hit or miss on if it works or not.

if you hit / you get a text window and if you hold caps lock you will be voice chatting. DO NOT voice chat in any of the server-wide channels(side chat and global chat as well ad the green text one) but if direct is working you can talk freely in it. ask questions over side channel using text only.

Edit- if you double tap capslock it will lock your voice comms in the on position simply double tap again to turn it off.

- direct chat is pretty realistic as to how far your sound will travel, i am not sure on the specifics but i think it has to do with how loud you are talking and the terrain you are in.

hi , woot first post!

i was searching for the same kind of info , thanks for clearing up some parts but i still have unanswered questions wich gave me problems in game.

Im trying to setup my mic and tried direct , global and some other channel and i dont know if my voice is going thru at all. Is there a way to know if it sends anything? i been shot dead a few times by other players asking me if i was friendly and they just basically never heard me i guess. i get pkilled in the game and its allright but when it happens just because you cant answer them back it sucks !!

the mic picks up when i am in windows . is there any specific settings to set up ??

i also never played Arma before and i must say the learning curve is pretty harsh , especially not spawning with any weapon ... would def like a basic melee weapon to defend myself upon accidental zombie encounter...
