How Do I join a clan, what can they do, and who would like to invite me to their clan?

So, I currently have three questions.

1.) What is the purpose of a clan on this game? (I think there are clans, I just want a group of people who I can play with.)

2.) How do I join a Clan?

3.) Who would like to invite me to their clan? I'm more than happy to help, scout around for zombies/players. I just want a group of friendly people who I can play with, and show me the ropes while we help each other find rations and survive.

There's no purpose of a clan. It's just a regular team that cooperates.

Find a clan and ask if you can join it. There's no system for it.

Maybe ask players in game or post in the survivor HQ section here.

Is there any possible way to communicate with others in game, or tell them your location or something? I remember there used to be a general chat feature, but it's gone and I'm unable to figure out how to communicate with other players in game.

1.) Tons of different purposes, it depends on the clan. Typically there are a few central reasons. A team provides security, better gear, and easier accessibility to vehicles. Some also enjoy the idea of interacting with new people and forming relationships.

The purpose of a clan is so that you have other people to help you hunt down and murder players who aren't in a clan.
