Personally I prefer the AS50 as it kills players mostly in one hit and it's range is pretty good. Never used the M14 before so I'm not sure.

It depends on what kind of player you are. If you expect to find yourself in long range PvP (500m +) then the AS50 is what you need. But if you think you're going to be getting in to more CQC then go with the M14 AIM.

AS-50 is obviously very loud, which kind of puts me off it.

if you are going to be a bandit in the hills sniping people I would go AS-50, for general use I would go for the M14 Aim.

Personally I would go bandit hunting in Dobrry and Visota using the L85 AWS to find the camping douchers and the M14 to kill them.

The M14 is a death machine. Though the Aim point is not very effective over ranges greater than 250-300m even if the rifle is more than capable of hitting them with little bullet drop. It also has 20 rounds in the mags which is pretty nice. Considering that it kills with one or two shots most of the time.

It's not really a dumb question. The AS50 is not always everybody's first pick.

I myself found an AS50 at a helicopter crash site, but decided to leave it behind. It didn't have any ammo on it, and I like the feel of my M24 better.

M14 is one of the best rifles for close combat, as50 for long range. It's a great combo. Another nice one is M14 + DMR as they can share the same ammo.

Given the choice between l85 and m14 I'd take the m14 every time. Especially because you can use m14 with NVGs.

Well the L85 has the NVG built in so the use of NVGs is irrelevant. More to the point, if you come across somebody in the woods at 100m, the AS50 and LA85 will probably mean your the last to shoot and the first to get shot. The M14 owns up to 600m. If you got space for two, then M14 and the 85 for all round capability as most planned engagements are still less than 500m.
