Expressen 4 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) Firstly, I read this on the wiki, sparked it"Walkers: These zombies stand upright and walk slowly. They run very fast in zigzags at the player and are often hard to hit. They are the most common zombie type.Hoppers: These zombies are crouched and hop towards the player at a medium speed flailing their arms once agroed, they can be hard to see and often blend in with grass on approach.Crawlers: These zombies are the rarest and are in prone position, they can be very difficult to see in the grass and are the quickest of zombies when they aren't aggroed. However, this is the slowest zombie when they are aggroed.".Why would any zombie zigzag? And why does 80% of them do it? It kind of annoying, better would be if 20 % did, and did 300% damage. I mean their brains are fried right? Why would they not pick the straight path? And why would those zombies which are even more braindead be able to complete a straight pathing like they do? Its like a drunktest, but 80% fails.I talked to my friends and we all thought that it felt kind of awkward that the most regular type of enemy would be the most fierce and dangerous.I really think it would be in general more fun kicking zombie butts if they would be easier to hit. Even if zombies would do 300% more damage, that would be fine as long as skills and tactics would do better and have greater impact. We feel that aiming is not the hard part, but having zombies making wierd turns and lagging away to china while still kicking your butt makes engaging zombies annoying in an unrealistic (and frustrating) manner rather than what would be a fun zombie shooting safari. I have no trubble with running zombies, but when they are superhuman mega fast and smart enough to dodge bullets its just disturbing. I would really like to see stronger , slower and easyer to hit zombies. However, adding more dangerous Hoppers would be a great veriety, as they are kind of wierd to begin with, adding a zigzag pattern to them instead would be cool, infact awesome.I LOVE HARD GAMES. I want this game to be hard. But hard in a way inwich my personal skills combined with slight equipment modifier, teamplay and tactics have the greatest impact on my progress rather than luck and latency or wether the walls around me allows zombies to tread through them.I think the concept of this is very good though, and I don't want to ditch it, but in my and my friends opinions; I really think it would be more enjoyable if Walkers would be running straight, while Hoppers made serpent patterns, along with having greater damage. Also, Crawlers could have a snare ability, that would make them dangerous too. Thanks for hearing me out. Also, playing survivor is kinda boring when you don't fight people, and fighting zombies sux. Expressen 4 Posted September 16, 2012 Maybe the game needs instances too.
The_Dude (DayZ) 27 Posted September 16, 2012 yeah, the whole zig-zagging zombie thing is pretty stupid. It suggests that they have fear of being shot. I assume that zombies have no fear, or emotion for that matter.
CptAwesomeBW 6 Posted September 16, 2012 The zigzagging and such is part of Arma2's AI pathing, not by design. Along with the glitching through walls, all of the buggy zombie behavior is due to it's status first as a mod, and second from said mod being in alpha.
Zeppa 562 Posted September 17, 2012 like guy above said, wait for standalone to get better braineaters.

Expressen 4 Posted November 25, 2012 Nah, not wowlike instances, more like in Stalker, was what came in mind. Anyway, nevermind that. I did not write that personally anyway, it was a friend of mine. Nontheless, I approved his message.Still, are you sure that it is in the AI rather than programming? Why would it be? It annoy the crap out of me.

It annoy the crap out of me.The AI is just copy pasted from ARMA 2. The AI weren't designed for melee attacks, they were made to shoot you. The zombies have pathing AI that assumes they have firearms, so they try to "flank" you.
Expressen 4 Posted November 25, 2012 Well, that makes sence, but how come only "Walkers" use serpent patterns?

SgtSnarff 0 Posted November 25, 2012 I do actually find it annoying when zombies zig-zag to you, and run behind you. I hope this is fixed in standalone.
