Devmagic 36 Posted August 12, 2012 I figured out that the patch makes you spawn on the coast every time you bounce from a 1.7.2.5 server to a 1.7.2.4 server and vice versa, so i would recommend picking a 1.7.2.5 server of which you may spawn on the coast again but if you stick to these updated servers you should find you won't spawn on the coast anymore. Just remember to avoid any server that is currently running 1.7.2.4 and this should hopefully not happen again.

Furry_PawstarZ 31 Posted August 12, 2012 Not really i was in a 2.5 went off, went back on the same server and spawned at the coast.
M4L 42 Posted August 12, 2012 not really fixed bugs are replaced by new, endless stream of crap, stuck @ loading, stuck @ waiting, well, atleast some servers work :) it kinda makes u wonder, why do i even bother to complain, caus its alpha, will we ever see beta? no.
MRJOEYBON 18 Posted August 12, 2012 This isn't a solution, at least not for me. Got on a server, logged off for a few minutes, and logged back on when my friends came back and suddenly, Elektro!
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA 149 Posted August 12, 2012 This isn't a solution, at least not for me. Got on a server, logged off for a few minutes, and logged back on when my friends came back and suddenly, Elektro! This. Sometimes server restarts trigger the respawning at the coast thing; sometimes it's simply logging out and back in. Although I'm sure switching between versions will also cause problems, and you should probably avoid playing on outdated servers. It's just a trap.In fact, my character experiences a really fun version of the bug where sometimes when I log in I die. Like shows up in the kill feed and everything, just up and die. I've been combating this by instantly logging out and back in again so the hive doesn't update that I actually died. Judge all you fucking want, I've had friends confirm that I wasn't logging in in front of someone and getting shot or anything. Middle of the woods, surrounded by buddies, and I just log in dead. You can bet your ass I'm gonna dodge that shit.

daryjames 0 Posted August 12, 2012 I find that if you stick to the same server and don't do the server hop you stay at the point you logged on. I go to a couple servers and they are different patch versions. I started back on the coast on both but when I've been inland on them. I remain inland. That's just me. Who knows when one of them restarts if I'll be back on the coast. ;)
DEOVONTAY MCSLANGA 149 Posted August 12, 2012 thats strange i been playing with it all morning and this was my best solution.I don't doubt that you were experiencing the bug as a result of playing on an outdated server. This can cause a whole bunch of other problems and you should NEVER EVER do it in this game.As for solving the problem, it still occurs somewhat regularly if you stick to 2.5 servers so you're likely just experiencing causation vs. correlation. Aka, you changed something and just happened to not get the bug, which does not necessitate that the thing you changed actually fixed the bug.
Littleassassin2 73 Posted August 12, 2012 I don't know what it is cause i can't use 2.5 servers yet so i stick to 2.4, and i spawned at the same location i did before i logged when i relogged on a different server
Devmagic 36 Posted August 12, 2012 Yeah well i had a bit of spare time so i embarked on a bit of trial and error and this was the best i could come up with

There doesn't appear to be a singular trigger event for it, although it's more common to have happen in between logs. For example, if you switch servers or just log out to eat some food and log back in on the same server. In rare cases I've had it happen to me in the middle of playing. Typically I'll red chain, blackout for a bit, then wake up on the shore. It's probably just a syncing issue with the hive and there's nothing you can do to really fix it. Use DayZ Commander (it's better in every way anyway). Click on the top of the launcher where it says "Versions" and click on update DayZ. If it's taking a really long time you can manually download the file and install it yourself too, although that's a pain in the ass.

L0G!N (DayZ) 149 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) I haven't realy tested it yet, but when i played last night first time on a 1.7.2.5 server i did spawn on the coast, made my way inland, had to log off for a bit, so just went to the lobby, went back in, and i spawned right where i was. While this 'bug' can be annoying if it happens on the same server everytime, it would be a decent fix for serverhoppers though. if the Hive only remembers the location on the last server you were on, and only applies it to the last server you were on, you will never be able to 'ghost' into a location through some other server, nor would you be able to camp/serverhop loot locations or sniper spots. While on the one hand i like the persistance across servers, it does result in some 'exploitable issues', but seeing camps are server restricted, once you make yourself a camp, or pick a home server, the only thing that truely matters is persistance on your homeserver. If this is the way the bug works than: 'is it realy a bug?' because what it does is exchange the following true issues:- server hopping- 'ghosting into locations'- Alt+F4 ghosting revengeInto the inconvenience that if your 'homeserver' doesn't have a free slot, and you WANT to play you start at the beach on another server, this then becomes your new persistant server. So if then a slot frees up on your homeserver, and you move back to it, you spawn there at the beach...If that is what it does, then PLEASE LEAVE IT IN! ... the minor inconvenience doesn't way upto all the other things it fixes! atleast untill there are other ways to fix the above issues... Why would anyone immediately go to the more complex option when there's an easier one available? Not really sure what the point you're trying to make is here. Congrats you can google where yo copy and paste files? Derail your own topic because someone posted pertinent and useful information, just to what stroke your epenis or show up someone else? Anything to fuck with alt-f4/ghost/server hoppers though, I'll gladly walk from the beach to my camp to retrieve a vehicle a couple times a day if it means I don't have to literally PLAN on someone ghosting me when I'm sniping. Good for you bro.Because i listened in school and don't need some program to do what takes no more than 30 seconds to achieve with my own intelligence. Its not bragging, it's called being educated. I merely suggested googling it because i could see this taking an awful long time to explain, time i don't have for people who like to start throwing around insults when someone was trying to help.
