malkcontent 6 Posted August 12, 2012 I tried to PM rocket this one (I was surprised that I actually could select him as a receiver in the PM system), however it failed because he can't receive PMs, at least from the standard user, which isn't really surprising. However, by the time I found out (pressing the send button) I had already written a somewhat lengthy message which I will simply drop here - think of it as an open letter :)Hi,I am setting up a private DayZ round for a few friends of mine, which is inspired by Hungergames. When I started most of them jumped on the idea, giddy to start and because of that I thought I might share it with you, because it could be an easy to implement alternate gamemode for DayZ. You know, like cs_ and de_ for cstrike. The way we play it is basically around 8-10 players split up into teams of 2 with seperate voice channels in mumble. We start a normal dayz game at the same time, only playing at the same time on the same server with an independant character database -> new characters. The goal is to eliminate all enemy teams (secondary goal is to find and not shoot your teammate(s) ;) ). It's not exactly a fastpaced game and we play in multiple sessions because of it. When the game drags on we start forbidding to enter certain areas until only the NW airfields are left. People inside forbidden areas have to exit them within a limited timeframe or are disqualified. Of course there are no respawns. Dead people stay dead. And that's about it :) It's not a gamemode that is easy to access for the less involved player (then again, the same might be said about DayZ already), because you have to coordinate playtime etc. with other players, but it's super fun.By now this is a userbased gamemode, as we agree to rules which are not part of the game. Now, if you are still reading, I have a few easy ideas which could turn this into a full blown dayz alpha gamemode alpha (xibit would be proud):-make server use a list which contains the players who are participating in the game, save their group-participants who die get removed from the list-players connecting to the server who are not participants (anymore) spawn as crows/spectators or are refused connection to prevent spying (server setting)-allow multiple teams/groups. reason: allow them global (voice)chat communication in case they do not know each other and lack mumble or teamspeak, etc.-perhaps a pause and ready system that helps the participants to only play at the same timebeyond these, as I think, easy to implement ideas, all that still had to be added is a system that gradualy forbids to enter certain areas. I think this could be a bit more tricky, but forbidding areas isn't a strong necessity for the gamemode and can wait a bit. Y'know... till the gamemode isn't supposed to be alpha anymore.Allright. Thank you so much for reading, if you did. Otherwise thanks for a great game, even if you're unlikely to read this if you skipped the rest. Don't let yourself get discuraged or unnerved by raging impatient douches complaining about dayz still being alpha, lacking support, no magic unicorns and so on.If you actually read this I would be happy about the smalles reply, it doesn't even need content, "ack" would be more than sufficient ^^-PatrickAt this point I kind of want to link the following topic because it contains a vaguely similar idea:http://dayzmod.com/f...mes#entry483102Thank you all for reading, be free to try the gamemode with your pals, I can only say it's a lot of fun, if you like the general idea and have the time. It is also nice if you get together for a good oldfashioned LAN party - local database ftw :)

malkcontent 6 Posted August 12, 2012 well that one is close a standard issue last man standing game. it doesn't really have any of the survival-game qualities that makes out dayz or the hungergames variant. (i really gotta find another name for it)
