Frunk 29 Posted August 12, 2012 Tried searching, but no luck....I've played on a few servers, where once I got a map + compass, I was able to see a blue marker showing my location on the map, and what direction I was heading. Is this a server side setting or something? Is this a Regular vs Veteran server issue?
Furry_PawstarZ 31 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) Some regular servers enable you to see yourself on the map as well as other survivors close to your location but the majority of servers disable this feature. maxamillion12345 21 Posted August 12, 2012 This is a server side option. It basically depends on what settings the admin prefers. It is not a very common thing on servers because most people see it as cheating because showing as a blue dot on the map is not very realistic.
Frunk 29 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) Thanks, figured that was the case. I think I've only seen it on 2 servers that I can remember. Edited August 12, 2012 by Frunk
Drblodski 53 Posted August 12, 2012 To OP - go play another game - this one might be too hard for you. Its best played with no fecking blue markers, 3rd person view, or cross hairs or any other CoD shite. You wouldn't like it.
sostronk 334 Posted August 12, 2012 As said, its server side. On servers without it you kinda need a GPS and it makes navigating alot easier.

Like how we can sprint across the entire map full speed, and never run out of stamina. Or how you can hatchet people/zombies from about 6 feet away. Opening doors is realistic too, you don't even open them, they just magically fly open from 3 feet away. But I get it, you go for the life like, 100% realistic games like Dayz. None of this CoD shite right? Blow me

xaronax 2 Posted August 12, 2012 Plus there are people like me who get motion sickness from Arma's shitty first person head bob roller coaster ride. Third person all the way. Are you retarded? Head bob is a fucking game option. You can turn it off. 3rd person is for shitty morons who can't fucking accept a level playing field. Sitting behind a goddam wall and being able to see over it is bullshit.
CerebralZombie (DayZ) 151 Posted August 12, 2012 Hold shift, and click an area on the map. If you can see the location while playing you'll know where you are. Use the numbers that go across the top n' side of the map. Also a GPS helps if you know how to use it.
kugelmeister 2 Posted August 12, 2012 Ive had a GPS regularly now for a while, travelled around the map countless times, and have even gone cross-chernaraus a few times in a UH-1H, so ive come to know the map pretty well. adding onto that, you can use the dhadows projected by the sun/moon as a comapass that is constantly at your feet, and the road signs are pretty easy to read if take a minute to get a feel for the russian alphabet, im at the point basically were at fresh spawn i know were i am, how to get to were i want to go, and navigate my way around the world withought any tools....people are way too dependant on finding tools in game they dont take a second to learn how to actually navigate using the incredible realism implemented in Arma
