In game text not working

I had it a while back, No matter how many times i disconnected to the lobby and came back, I still couldn't type.

You have to restart the game. Whenever i typed it came out as "wasaasdadass" or " " empty

At first I just thought other players were being sketchy and not responding but after meeting up with a friend, he wasn't able to see my text on any channel. Aside from the fact that channels or the concept of channels is just mind numbingly stupid.
