Nametags - Can the range they are viewable be adjusted?

As the title says, can you adjust the range that name tags are displayed? We want to display tags on our server so when we are grouped together we can tell who is friendly and who is unknown, but we don't want others to be able to spot us from 200 meters or what ever the range is.
