Zombies with bionic eyes? Can servers set view distance higher?

I notice some servers I join the zombies can spot me at night while I'm crouch WALKING from a mile away.

No I'm not exaggerating. Are there servers out there that modify how well zombies see you? I was just on one where I was crawling on one of the airfields at night with only 1 sound bar and 0 vision bars. 3 zombies saw me from quite a distance, ran to me, knocked me unconscious, and feasted on my entrails.

are u updated to latest version for arma and dayz? other then that no, admins pretty much cant do anything to modify the server tbh

From what I know they can't modify the viewing distance of Z's.

What difficulty were you on? I've noticed they aggro like a bitch on the higher tiers.
