To those Who picked on the people with Battleye Problems the Last Few Dayz

Recommended Posts

I think you guys need an attitude change. This is coming from a bandit who kills and murders people for entertainment, so hear me out.

The last few days a large number of people have been getting Global Bans from Battleye. Within this large quantity there were manys hackers. But there were also innocent people. I kept posting in that huge thread about global bans which got over 700 replies in a couple days. The majority who posted in that thread did get banned falsely, and they were trying to figure out their problem(s) on what to do. I shake my head to the dozens upon dozens of people who trolled and replied coldly to those who were confused and innocent. Those who replied harshly should be ashamed of yourselves because of your rude behavior to players who just were wanting to play DayZ like you.

Of course you don't know who a damn hacker is on this forum, because everybody can make up a story. But when a thread gets 700+ replies with many people claiming false bans and trying to organize themselves about it, I think it would give a hint as to your minds of what was going on. And if not, you could at least have the decency to act as a human being on this forum, instead of role-playing as the garbage and shit you play as in the actual game. It even turns out Battleye announced they were sorry for the false bans, and are acting accordingly.

I'm a bandit, I kill people and act evil. But staying kind and cautious instead of obnoxious and ignorant makes you look like less of an ass of yourself.

tl;dr you guys are acting like losers to your fellow brethren - shapen up.

Ah, the comfy cushions and soft platitudes of the moral high ground.

Well, at this point, some deserve it.

Internet is a harsh place filled with deceitful scum that will do anything to unban their sorry butts even if they pose as an innocent bystander.

He's a Witch!

Burn him!! Burn him with fire !

But seriously masses of people behave in strange ways, you cant really blame people for being skeptical. Personally I chose to remain silent on the matter until this post.

Lets get a few facts straight. The majority of those who were banned which seems to be about 1000 players were hackers. The huge thread had maybe 20 players who claimed they were incorrectly banned and the posters there were in large part the odd player saying "suck it hackers" and the incorrect banned players saying "nope". There wasn't a whole lot of people, at least in that thread, that were incorrectly banned, but for those who were I can see how enormously frustrating it must have been.

I was one of those who didn't believe BE made a poopoo and I apologize to the legit players that were banned.

Edit: booboos

From what I have seen, in multiple threads, those posting are either hackers, or thought they were banned but instead were kicked from a server with (Global Ban) in the message.

They never checked to see if they could access a DIFFERENT server, and instead freaked out and posted on the internet.

The vast majority are hackers, scripting little cheating kiddies with too much money and not enough sense, and that money probably isn't even theirs (Mommy for instance).

Sure, a few might have been banned that are innocent. Battleye checks ALL your folders in relation to the game, as well as a few extra, so something sparked it and caused it to ban them, so maybe they didn't hack Arma. But they DO have something that made them a threat, which caused their ban. If they send in a support ticket, and a human goes over the files they were banned for, they might find that it wasn't "Hacking_Script_21" but "Skype_Chat_Log_21". They'd be unbanned. But whining on a forum does not get them the help they are asking for.

Id tend to believe a Company like battleye more often then I would believe a 13 year old claiming they never used hacks.

This is normally true, but not in this case.

Update: The issue has been investigated with the help of Ondrej Spanel (BIS lead programmer) and we found that there is a possibility of a race condition on BE's side during the game's disconnect process. It can essentially destroy the integrity of the environment that BE expects and trigger a certain detection. The problem has been fixed and all of bans of the past two days that could have been triggered by such a condition have been removed. There might still be cheaters among those, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that the innocent players should be unbanned now.

We're honestly deeply sorry for this and will do everything to ensure that something like this won't happen again.

Most of the false bans seemed to be unbanned anyway. And to assume an entire community is going to be friendly and arms open to a hacker..

They don't have to be friendly, but they don't have to be mean about it either.

Fully agree with OP. I've been the victim of two false-positive bans in my years of gaming and I've seen thousands of people get hit by them before. The recent Battleye problem was just another incident where a terrible anti-cheat program hits inoccent users. Fortunately people got un-banned this time, I've seen many people be forced to buy a new game (looking at you, PunkBuster) simply because the anti-cheat banned them falsely. I'm not saying all of the bans were unwarranted, but a good number were innocent people. Any any amount of false-positives resulting in potentially permenant bans is unacceptable. I'd rather get killed by a hacker once per week than have a chance at being forced to buy a new game.

My point here is that you should try and treat each claim as if the poster is honest. If he's not, he's not going to get unbanned anyway. If he is truly innocent, then help him try to appeal the ban. You aren't hurting anything or anyone by at least pointing him in the right direction. I've been on the receiving end of false bans (most recently when my Starcraft II account was hacked, I still have no idea how as I am very security-conscious) and I can assure you there is nothing more frustrating and stressing in gaming. You've spent a good deal of money (most likely) on a game, played it fairly and happily, and then randomly you're told you can't play anymore (unless you give them more money). When you're in that situation, most people panic. They want to be able to play again and they want to do it immediately, they don't want to be permanently banned. Sure, it's a knee-jerk reaction and they're desperate, but you might feel much the same when suddenly thrust into that situation. I know I'd be pissed and confused if I were banned from DayZ (let alone ARMA II)...

Just trying to help people see from the other perspective. I've had quite a few experiences with this. It's not pleasant, especially when everyone out there is one-hundred percent convinced that you're a hacker. Hell, you may even start to believe it yourself. I was trying to figure out what I possibly could have done in battlefield to be considered a hacker a few years back when that banned me.

The odds are very much stacked against this, so I don't agree. The hatred towards hackers are big so you get a double effect here, but I agree that there's no need to be a dick about it and respecting others is a trait that will always carry you further.
