Astaa 11 Posted August 10, 2012 While the forum mods seem to be closing any thread that seems to discuss false bans I would like to post this anyway...I was watching a few vids on youtube and decided to install Fraps. I used Fraps pretty much from when it was released and miraculously remembered my log-in password from years ago...yes I may be one of the few people on the planet that actually paid for it!I used to make the odd video from dark age of Camelot (an old school MMO) and remembered that the file size was huge when recording, so before recording properly I thought I would get it set up properly.I had logged off last night near the north eastern dam so logged on just to test some fraps settings, trying to keep the file size low but the quality high. Anyway. I logged on to one server and started recording for 30 seconds, stopped fraps and logged off. No problems (except for the file size!)I played around with a few fraps settings and rejoined another server. I instantly got a pop up message saying "Global ban"Knowing I am not cheating I decided to try again, different server no problems - I even got the fraps file down to less than 500mb for 1 minute!I am now a bit confused. Am I banned (for no reason whatsoever) or not? I have logged on to a couple of server since and it seems to be fine. I am just a little worried now that I will end up banned over the weekend for no reason.Do battle eye even know wtf they are doing? What on earth is going on...can we have some sort of clarification as to whether they know their arse from their elbow? Is there a problem with their software? Can they actually detect cheaters? (evidence suggests they can't!) are legit players getting shat on because of battle eye's incompetence? Are they going to sort their shit out for the stand alone release? As far as I can tell, rampant cheaters are allowed to get away with cheating but honest players seem to be getting kicked in the nuts. Not at all impressed...And before the bedroom warriors get themselves all excited. No, I really didn't cheat...if I did I would be a far more successful DayZ player than I am! I get scared easy in the woods and towns are a nightmare, the one time I did find a chopper (day 1 into the game, hindsight - clearly a hacked chopper) I crashed it within 20 seconds of taking off - after a good 5 minutes of working out how to get it off the ground! I am not and have never been a cheat, I don't even use cheats in single player games!Anyway, pissed off and more than a little drunk. Lets see what tomorrow brings... Disgraced 1123 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) It's quite simple, and I'm not sure what you mean in the first part of your post. All of us, as forum mods, are users when it comes to battleye and even Dayz. We a trying to keep these forums informative, readable and fun. You could refer to this thread:http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/67843-mistaken-global-bans-reversed/From my experience, there were a lot of battleye bans two nights ago. I have been playing DayZ since May, and this is the third "ban wave" that I have seen. Each time there is a blanket way that people start claiming that they were falsely banned. It's because they are on forums where they formulate their plans based on how they know their scripts work. This time, it seemed like a bunch of people who happened to be blank spanking new players to DayZ were getting banned. At this point, battleye has said they are looking into things, and it seems like they may be close to some resolution if some people have been falsely banned. From my perspective, this is the fault of the scripters. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD. But they do, because they obtain a certain glee from messing up other people's game, and it gives them some kind of good feeling that I do t understand and that I think is wrong. In any case, we are not hiding anything here at the Dayz forums. We are serving the community and the dev team. Astaa 11 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the links. I read about the mistaken bans but thought it has all been sorted out. All of the above happened within the last hour or so. It seems their fix hasn't quite fixed it all.As for my meaning in the first part of the post, I was looking for an existing thread to post this in, rather than starting a new one but found they had all already been locked... Astaa 11 Posted August 10, 2012 ...It seems it was just a spurious message. I have just tried a few servers and I could get on without any problems.Apologies for the anger but I don't like being accused of cheating by the game when I know I am not :)
