Safe ways to give away weapons?

I'm usually able to collect spare high-tier guns a lot when I play DayZ.

Other than walking up and handing them to people, anyone have any ideas on ways I can pass them down to other survivors without potentially landing a shot in my back?

Alternatively I guess I could make a big pile on the shore line and snipe anyone who walks up to check it out...

Place one down in a place away from a large city, such as a barn. Tell the location of said place to the person you want to give it to.
