Zombies carrying dead players equipment

Hey all, Im here to post a suggestion about a new zombie type (well not really a 'new' zombie but a feature too add.).

I was thinking, if a zombie made a player unconscious, started eating at the player and the player could only die, the player's dead body could turn into a zombie but wearing the player's skin and carrying the player's equipment (apart from what was being carried in his hand).

1) There is only a 1/6 chance it would happen.

2) If the player had a weapon in his hand when he died, it would not be picked by the zombie. ( But if the player had a sidearm, it would be obtainable.)

3) If the player had a backpack, it would still be obtainable.

4) The zombie would be a crawling one.

I hope you liked my idea. (sorry if something like this has already been posted.)

this is good, but you forget that zombies despawn once you leave an area..

Yeah i guess, but it might only work if the server was highly populated and they only did it in cities.

IMO a walking one would be cooler, his head sagging, his hand still wrapped around the pistol.

How about the body only reanimates if the player comes back for their own corpse.

I only see one problem really with this great idea, as we know in DayZ zombies dont persist in an area once players leave, which would end up making the gear the zombie randomly picked up a lose, which would probably make players very angry if they were lucky enough to make it back to their body. on the other hand that would be pretty cool if you had to go kill zombies that were just recently nomin on the corpse of the player that you just killed, just another element in the game that has a few balanced pros and cons.

I like the idea.

How about the player Zombie is spawning a little group 5 - 10 of regular Zs who walk with him? Furthermore the Player Zombie could have the same amount of health as a survivor, being a bit harder to kill.

This Z group would be independent from buildings and wouldn't need players to spawn them.

They could walk the map on their own and add some variety and randomness to the world.

Also hunting down these groups could be quite rewarding since you get the dead players gear.

To prevent FPS drop you could simply set a max amount of them per server. Once it is reached the chance of a dead player turning into one is set to zero.

If anything like this was to happen, it would require a rethink of one of the most important aspects of the game, zombies overall behavior.

Id actually support this, if there was MORE to it, other aspects of zombie behavior.

I see what your point is, looking at The2ndLink's point about the Player Zombie to have more health than a 'regular' zombie. It could also be a bit more smarter than a regular zed too. While a regular zed would just try run at the player and kill the player, a player zed could try confuse the player, giving the player a vulnerable spot. It could also add the risk of going back to your walking corpse, with no weapon.

Zombies despawning is for optimization, which IMO is more important than zombies carrying guns

I guess the player zombie would only spawn when a player enters the spawn proximity range and don't worry, the zeds wont be able to use the gun. Edited by BwobBwub

Yes, i like that, it would add more of the 'horror' aspect part of the game.

It won't happen, the lore given on the site states that this is an infection, hence the reason why zombies stay dead when you kill them, the zombies you find are all still alive. Think of it as the rage virus from 28 Days Later, meaning that you couldn't reanimate.

Although, I don't think I'd mind it that much, it would make it so that if a player with good gear died, it wouldn't just be free, you'd have to work a bit for it.

I like the idea. When a player dies now, their inventory and death location are obviously stored by the server, since their corpse can be found hours and hours later, abuzz with flies. If the cause of death was zombies, simply retain that data and despawn the corpse, then have a chance to spawn a zombie with that appearance and loot when a player triggers zombie spawns in that area for the next day or so.

I don't like the idea of it being a "boss" zombie, though. No minions, no boosted health, no use of firearms or above-average running speed or whatever. Just a zombie, that looks like a PMC guy, that has a big inventory and backpack.

Also, we should be able to sneak up on this zombie in the dark and access its pack.
