Testing how all this works, I set up the tent and put 4 cooked steaks in there. When I logged back in, the steaks were gone.

I wasn't upset by that though! I was happy about it! I fed someone. Someone perhaps on the brink of death from blood loss! What a great feeling! (I'm hoping of course that the meat was actually looted and not just eaten by the game, but anyway...)

Is it odd that I want to set up "shop" outside Cherno and fill my tent with cooked meat to share? I shall call it "Gum's Deli." :P

Solution is to save the tents after you put stuff in. This is done by looking at the tent and scroll up (wait for the icon to appear) there it gives you the option to save ;)

I don't think that someone took your meat, I have a safe camp with a bycicle and a tent, I tested the tent by putting meat in it and clicking "Save old camping tent" but when I logged in next day I had my bycicle but the meats were gone, tent bug I think

Props to you though for setting up a tent near cherno for noobs. Sadly though, a tent in cherno is like a giant anvil hanging by a thread over a big red circle in a cartoon.

when i first set up my tent i threw a bunch of stuff in it and clicked save several times. (it would be nice if there was a confirmation message)

the next day it was empty. it hasn't lost anything else since though... just a sec, let me go find some wood to knock on... ok.

my conclusion so far is don't put stuff in a new tent until after the server has reset once.

But that means you have to actually go INTO town. Just place it in the trees directly north of Cherno, any noob will be able to see it more then likely and get curious about it.

I don't use a tent. Maybe for emergency gear like surplus food and drinks for whenever I get killed, and need an easy start.

But then again, everyone can loot the tent, which in turn is understandable. Tents are not very hard to break into.

However, if you want your stuff to stay your stuff, then hide the tent in a place where nobody goes to.

I've gotten to the point where I will save the tent three or four times in a row to make sure I did it. Tents still dump all of my gear all the time. It's gotten to the point where I pack them up to find a better spot and disconnect, go to another server, and they delete themselves from my inventory. Item tracking and tents are completely screwed up. It's one of the biggest problems in the game right now. A few days ago, I logged in and my backpack got deleted, along with my primary and secondary weapons (Looted off a downed Heli btw). Do you know how frustrating it us to not have any inventory space? Backpacks are so ungodly rare to begin with, it's ridiculous.

i always put junk in it at first (tin cans, ect). after the server resets the stuff is gone. now the tent is safe for real gear.

haven't lost an item since i started doing this with new tents...
