Day Z dose not give a back story to any players meaning i can only guess you are a person who lived near the sea and has run away from your village or town.

If you were about to leave your home and live in the wild would you not grab a bag of some sort?

The Czech Vest Pouch has 6 slot but the Coyote backpack you start with has 8 slots which basicly makes the Czech Vest Pouch pointless.

So why not use the Czech Vest Pouch instead or add a new bag like a satchel that can only hold 3-5 items?

Please put your view and add to my idea.

Would just be better without imo. Would encourage you to find something else. The whole setting if you watch the mini series on the dayzgame.com website is you were caught off guard. You wouldn't have time to grab a backpack.

Personal opinion, of course:

No starting pack or at least remove that vest pouch.

But in the grand scheme of things, I think of these as "later ponderances".

I'm sur they will consider these kinds of things when backpacks work as planned. For alpha purposes, we can actually use backpacks, and they seem like a good idea :)

Because having started without a backpack, i can tell you: It makes for more interesting decision in the beginning...

You can't just pick up any ammo you find, and hope to pick up the gun later on.

Do i pick up a empty water bottle or a Soda?

Etc...it limits you more, and makes finding a czech pouch a actual treat.

For me the starter backpack isnt needed either, you find a backpack regarding current spawnrates very very quickly.

Yeah, it's a good way to visually indicate that someone is a new player, but it also helps new player not get spotted as easily..

A walking player could almost pass for a zombie at a distance, if he lost the backpack and the cap..

I played for hours before I realized you could even open your backpack, and that's after having found several alice packs and czech backpacks..

So the starting inventory is more than enough for your first few hours until you find a backpack.

Also, this means you could add regular backpacks to loot spawns and also smaller bags here and there.

I think that the Czech Vest Pouch should be used as an extra bag space, as if you two bags. One on your back, and the vest pouch, well... on your vest.

start with nothing, maybe just some random stuff as in real life: a watch, (stuff you have in your pockets) some matches or a lighter..

Like I said in the other post, my friends and I had no idea how to use the pack for the first day or two, and we survived just fine. Its not needed.
