-SA-Vanguard 10 Posted August 10, 2012 Hello folks.I've been watching videos of the new-ish 'Thunderdome' hack. For those who aren't aware, the Thunderdome is an arena spawned into the map by a hacker. All players on the server are teleported inside and stripped of their gear. Inside the arena are crates containing every weapon, every item and tonnes of supplies from Day Z (not all of the Arma 2 guns though). Players are told to kill eachother and the surviving players get to leave in a helicopter, spawned in after 5 minutes. There've been a LOT of people who've recently been banned by BattlEye, and to be honest I think quite a few of these cases are actually innocent players. Doesn't take a genius to see that some players are genuine and have been banned for no reason, there's something more to this than people think. So my question is: does this Thunderdome hack, or any of the other known hacks, cause the player victims to actually be recognized by BattlEye as a bannable offender? Something is causing innocent players to be banned. Perhaps not a lot of them, but some of them. BattlEye are ignorant with their rules, the whole "you can't tell us your story" business, so it's pretty much "fuck you, we think you're hacking, buy a new CD key and give us more money".Would anyone be so kind as to share their experiences, or opinions on this matter please? Let's keep it constructive here, none of the "cry this cry that" business. It'd be nice to be civil about this matter for a moment :)
tsandrey 379 Posted August 10, 2012 Battleye confirmed that hackers CAN'T make innocent players get banned. However, they have maybe been false-positives and they are looking into them

Appropriate action will be taken if a false-positive scenario is found. -SA-Vanguard 10 Posted August 10, 2012 Ah, quite a good guess then!If that's the case, then I guess we can actually get banned by hackers?

sivart 85 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Battleye confirmed that hackers CAN'T make innocent players get banned. However, they have maybe been false-positives and they are looking into themso battleye confirmed that itself cant make a mistake. well i claim i am infallible also! i declare myself king! see where im going with this...?its like obama saying hes the best president ever. these things are all exact opposites. If I had to guess I'd say user ID spoofing.Hackers use your player ID and then that ID gets banned, and since it's your ID you're the one that gets banned.yep. that would "make innocent players get banned" Edited August 10, 2012 by sivart
-SA-Vanguard 10 Posted August 10, 2012 So essentially, there's nothing we can do except let ourselves get banned?
tsandrey 379 Posted August 10, 2012 Wrong. They can't spoof names. Battleye detects GUID's which are connected to CD keys.
-SA-Vanguard 10 Posted August 10, 2012 So if I do ever get ported to the Thunderdome (bound to happen sometime or another), and I win and kill everyone, is it alright that I take all the loot I want and the chopper? Is there anything there that'd get me banned?

Dante Inferno 2 Posted August 10, 2012 You think I don't know the law? Wasn't it me who wrote it? And I say that this man has broken the law. Right or wrong, we had a deal. And the law says: bust a deal and face the wheel! Not a fan of hackers, but in my opinion the individual or group who came up with Thunderdome should be hired on to script custom events for DayZ. -SA-Vanguard 10 Posted August 10, 2012 Thunder dome 50 men enter. One cheat leaves. Not always :] A couple of my friends fought their way out and they left with a helicopter and some nice loot. Sadly for them though they didn't do the Arma 2 bootcamp flight training and crashed it straight away.
