Can you be killed during a server restart?

Okay, I was walking around NWAF and a server restart happens, placing all the players in this open field with the ability to shoot eachother. I was pretty freaked out by this, never seen a server restart, and i was killed in the process. I then disconnected, thinking ''OMFG this is bullsht'' and when i log back in on another server, i respawn by the coast with none of my items. So my question is:

WTF happened? Can you honestly be perma'deathed in these?

That was something called a hack. A server restart might have a message appear, but all it does is make the server have a stroke.

that was a hacker teleporting u guys happened to me 2 yesterday:) a server restart cant rly kill u just stay away from objekts so u dont spawn inside of them or something :)
