Low FPS?

So I recently purchased Arma 2 + OP purely for the DayZ mod (which is incredible!) but I have experienced low fps even on the lowest settings possible, I am only hitting 30fps.

Specs:

Quad Core @3.1Ghz

8GB 1333mhz Ram

2GB 6950 (OC'd to 6970)

My build runs Battlefield 3 on ultra at 50-60fps so it just confusing as to why Arma 2, specifically DayZ, will not run at a decent fps on the lowest settings let alone the highest settings.

Any help or insight into this would be appreciated :)
