Radio Idea

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about all the radio suggestions and to me it seems a little pointless. You and your friend could use radios to communicate, but that's pointless considering you could just use teamspeak or vent or any other voice communication program. You can also talk to people you don't know, but that just leads to more...

player 1: "anyone in cherno?"

player 2:"ya i'm friendly"

player 1: "cool i'm in the supermarket"

player 1 was killed

So I tried to think of any practical reason to add radios to DayZ. I got to thinking that maybe they could have some use in certain areas. If you had a radio, you could turn it on to listen for any other people also using radios within a certain radius. Possibly radios could use towers to receive waves from certain areas, basically allowing you to hear what's going on around it. Another suggestion is that if 2 players have their radios on and come into a certain radius of each other, maybe they would hear static in their feed and know they were not alone. This may sound overpowered in a way but this is why radios should be rare when implemented further in DayZ. Not so rare that there is no point in using one because no one else would have one, though.

I know some of these ideas have already been suggested but I'm just trying to tie of my ideas together.

Maybe allow people to take over the radio towers and broadcast their own wasteland radio show ;). That could be...interesting.

you could also have different frequencies or passwords for your channel...

Yea I think even channeling to the perfect frequency could tap into a player's radio while they have it on them, within a certain range.
