Cannot see other players

I tried to meet up with my friend in Elecktro because he just got the mod. However, I could see him, but he couldn't see me. I threw a flare down and he saw that, but not me. Apparently he had been hearing people shuffling around him earlier but couldn't see them either.

Anyone know whats going on?

Note: The only troubleshooting we did was: connecting to a diff server, and check to see if his files were all there.
