Taped Magazines.

Recommended Posts

Hey there guys, what's up? I've got an awesome Idea for you guys. Have you ever had to drop something to pick up another magazine for your gun? I sure have. It can get annoying. So, an idea came to me.

What if I took a toolbox (I'm assuming there's more than a wrench in a toolbox.) and used it to take two magazines and tape them together? Kind of like in this picture. DualMags.png

Now, I know theres some people, who like realism. I've got that covered too. If you were to reload your gun with a taped magazine it would take (a little, not much, but still a little) longer to reload your gun, giving whoever is attacking you a more tactical advantage.

This idea is open to interpretation by anyone, and I'll take any criticism.

EXCEPT FOR "COD Fanboy".

I hate COD. Taped mags exist IRL too you know, COD doesn't invent their own ideas.

In terms of reload times any mags in your main pack area are taped together. The majority of the time spent on a mag change is lowering/raising the weapon and charging it. You're not spending any time unbuttoning an ammo pouch and fishing out a new magazine.

Oh. Well, still, just a suggestion :P

In my experience (8 years Army Infantry) this causes more malfunctions and that's why more people don't do it. Of couse if a risk for weapon missfires could be added in then it might be interesting if also they add this with a better reload speed + a reletively high chance of missfire compared to normal...

I'm not arguing or saying you are wrong, but I have low knowledge of guns... How would a taped magazine cause a malfunction?

Probably something to do with the weight of the ammo/mag.

If the Devs could be bothered, I dont see a reason why not to.

So... beside looking "cool" and "badass" what would it add to the game? Most of the weapons already reload pretty much as fast as if you had your spare mag sitting on a table in front of you.

Now that sentence is just dumb.

No, it is because of the extra weight. You can shoot like that but you have to be careful to support the weight of the magazines. A lot of rifles have enough play in the magazine well that the extra weight will cause them to move enough to slightly change the angle that the bullet is inserted into the chamber, which can cause malfunctions. Especially in weapons with more wear and usage, it can even be enough weight to pull the magazines from the well if you are moving around a lot. Its not like a person absolutely can't shoot that way but it causes enough problems that you have to be mindful of what you are doing. I agree with the guy above, the rifles load pretty quick in game as it is, it wouldn't really add anything to the game unless that was modified some way.

I suspect having an upside down magazine sticking out of your currently loaded one is exposing it to dirt, and potentially shaking/bumping the topmost cartridge in it out of allignment.

Someone who knows what they are talking about.

The taped magazines wouldn't really be very practical...ya running along, spot a guy, drop the ground...oh shit...ya mags just gone straight in the dirt...now ya mags full of crap, requires de bombing cleaning and re bombing....

To carry more magazines in the inventory/backpack.

I will when Black Ops II comes out, because that looks good. But that belongs in off-topic, and this thread is about Taped Magazines, and not Call of Duty.

Because taping 2 magazines on eachother makes them take less space because fuck logic. And not like you cant carry tons of ammo already.

Considering that you can transform a 6-round revolver clip into a 7-round M1911 clip, or walk around with a helicopter rotor in your back pocket, I find it perfectly logical. Besides it actually is logical, its called organizing. Have you ever packed a suitcase by neatly placing your stuff rather than just tossing everything in it?
