blinded by the light

My new spawn fades in and the words cherno appear in the lower right section of my screen.

Since I am a fresh spawn I am free to run around, no fear of losing anything.

I head straight for the grocery store to find goodies. On my way there I decide to make a quick stop at the church.

I turn on my flashlight, because I know if someone is there and sees my flashlight they will be immediately clued

that I don't have a weapon, and since the rifle with the flashlight is rare I'm hoping they won't shoot someone unarmed.

I walk in slowly, the church looks deserted and empty, I move deeper and deeper checking the corners, I move my flashlight to the right and I see a girl! She has a makarov pointed in my direction but since it's night time and my flashlight is pointed directly at her face I know she can't see or aim well because I am blinding her, at least I hope I am. Sure enough she fires off a shot, misses. I run out of the church and turn a corner then go prone near a tree. She doesn't follow. I wait a few seconds, then decide to make a run for it. I want to aggro zombies, since I don't have a weapon I need additional targets to take the heat off me. Zombies are a great way to defend yourself when you don't have any ammo or a gun. So I start running around cherno like an idiot, I pick up an empty can and throw it at a window to smash it and make noise. My zed friends take notice and begin their chase, screeching with blood thirsty snarls that echo past the hollow streets of Cherno. My footsteps echo as I run through the streets and I hear more and more footsteps gaining fast behind me pounding the pitch black asphalt. I have about 4 or 5 zeds now chasing me. I run back toward the church and I see the girl walking out, her back turned to me, I start running towards her with a horde of zombies and I shout "Hey there, want to meet some friends of mine?" Startled she turns around and begins to shoot at me again! Horrible shot though missing every time, the Zeds are now focused on her and they actually manage to hit her once making her bleed. She tries shooting but the zeds are overpowering her. Sweet! She begins to run now, unable to shoot back and bleeding. I follow, I figure what the heck, if I die I won't lose any loot except my flashlight, but if she bleeds to death I get her guns. It was quite funny like an episode of Benny Hill, Old man chasing a young girl in town with a hoard of zombies following. The girl is still bleeding as she is running, trying to turn corners to lose the zeds. She manages to lose them and since I see that she is not stopping I yell "Hey, stop running, I have bandages I can heal you, I have no weapons just a flashlight!"

I wanted to see if this person was actually a bandit or just frightened being alone in a dark church. Again, I don't care if I lose anything at this point I'm curious about her intentions more then her loot. She stops! kneels and lets me bandage her, I'm expecting that makarov to go off any second. I finish bandaging her she stands up. says nothing and runs away....

Who knew I would actually help someone who shot me, but I figured that since she was such a terrible shot and missed me so many times that she was not a bandit, just a frightened civilian with a gun.

Afterward I found a crossbow at the school in town, and I actually managed to kill a real bandit, dude had EVERYTHING. I was on the top floor of the school and I saw him running up the steps, he shot me a few times but only managed to make me bleed. I put an arrow straight through his skull and was delighted to see him collapse on the steps. I took his coyote pack, range finders, nv goggles, silenced weapons etc.

I don't know what happened to the girl but I got my loot and I saved a noob from bleeding to death.

Cherno is a great place!
