Few suggestions

Some of them are not new, but I will write them anyway.

1. Fatigue system.

It's annoying that we can run from zombies forever, and if it's realistic survival game - then we shouldn't be able to do so. IMO sprint should be limited to 2 minutes, and while we are sprinting, our food and water bars falls much faster than normal. Wanna run? You need to eat and drink.

2. Weapon damage and gun jam.

Weapon should have it's durability bar. When we use gun its durability bar obviously fall (it should also fall when it’s raining, when the character is submerged and while we are crawling through a dusty terrain with this gun in our hands). The more the weapon is damaged, the more inaccurate it is, thus the higher probability of weapon jamming. Just like system from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. To repair weapon we need "gunsmith kit" or something like that.

Of course all AK-based weapons should be almost indestructible, with nearly non-existant chance of jam. If you want to use western weapon, then you need to take care of it. It would jam like shit when it's damaged. If you are lazy and you like using your gun as shovel, then the only option is good old AK. Unlocking jammed weapon should take about 1 minute when we can sit on our ass and look upon what just happened.

3. Armors

Well, it's not a new idea, but there should be some helmets and sets of body armor with two parameters: bashing defence and piercing defence. Anti-zombie armors should be possible to make by crafting, but zombies should hit quite harder.

4. More zombie movements?

I don't know if this engine can handle that, but it would be nice if zombie could jump on us and take us on the ground while trying to bite us (or just catch us while standing)*. Maybe some simple quick time event to free ourselves (take out the knife and attack). Just some more problems with zombies. When zombie bites us, maybe we can catch this zombie disease, and we need to take antibiotics in few hours to cure ourselves?

* like the Hunter Infected in the Left4Dead computer game.

5. Weapon upgrade

Just like in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. You can take your e.g AK and add silencer, mount some optics, grenade launchers, bayonet etc. Also there would be nice to upgrade some core weapon parameters with "gunsmith kit" like accuracy, magazine size or rate of fire or change ammo type used by weapon (that would also change the damage done by the weapon).

I have to say, I actually like most of these ideas. Let me go through one by one.

1. I want to say that this feature already is in the game, if you hold still for a while you'll notice that your hunger/thirst drops much slower than when you're running round.

2. It's a good idea, but I don't know about actually repairing the guns. I might reword it as cleaning, with a consumable cleaning kit, but thats just me.

3. I honestly don't know if this can be integrated into the ARMA engine. We have ghillie suits, which make it difficult for other players to see us, but as far as I know it doesn't affect stats. However, I wouldn't be surprised if when Day Z goes standalone there will be other equippable clothing/armor that gives different benefits.

4. Not a fan of this one. The sickness seems alright, but the way I see it, the sporadic zombie movements are good enough already (besides needing some polishing) and quick time events would not be enjoyable or fit into the overall game.

5. Another idea I like, but again I don't know if this can actually be done. Different modifications/skins put on guns would be a nice touch.

My idea was to add "gunsmith kit" which could be used to upgrade or repair a weapon. Of course it would have only one use, and after we use it, we need to find another.

I think DayZ would work much better on engine used in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games... This engine seems to be much more flexible, and has many of our suggestions implemented on default.
