Being Affected By Shooting A Gun

Recommended Posts

It seems like we should be more affected when we shoot guns. Hearing should be impaired and there should be ringing.

Also, when we shoot we should be shaking and nervous, adrenaline would be pumping, unless there is some sort of back story to all these survivors that makes them completely used to shooting guns.

Any thoughts?

This isn't at the start of the zombie apocalypse, everyone still alive has been surviving for a while, so relatively used to shooting and such most likely.

Makes sense although there would still be adrenaline pumping. What should happen regardless though is the ringing in the ears and hearing impairment.

Ringing makes sense, permanent volume decrease if you shoot alot also makes sense. But adrenaline? Have you ever shot a gun before?

Are you saying when you are shooting a gun in a life or death situation there is no adrenaline involved? My heart races in real life when I'm simply shooting somebody in this game. I've shot a couple .357's and .22's but it was at an indoor range with no life or death situation.

It would take too much work, you'd have to script it so you get super shaky whenever someone starts shooting at you. Also, people react to situations in different ways, someone getting shot at might run the fuck away, someone else might get shaky and try to fight, someone else might get super focused, too many variables.

I get enough adrenaline sitting in my comfy armchair dealing with all the effects there are already. No, thanks.

I am not entirely against the idea, but I think it is just way too much 'lets make the game harder, for the sake of it' going on here.

The ACE mod already incorporated hearing loss, due to firing heavy machine guns and explosives, but all you need is a pair of earplugs. Which everyone now automatically puts in regardless.

So what's the point of adding in something like hearing loss when firing, if the fix will be simple and or instantaneous.

We could go the route of having NO fix, IE: when you fire a gun you suffer hearing loss... but its not like hearing loss goes away after awhile. Usually when a gun is fired next to unprotected ears the hearing loss is permanent.

Just make it so if you do put in earplugs, all noise will be blocked. Noone will want that kind of thing in their ears in this kind of game, where sound is so important.
