Standalone Request - Multiple paid accounts

Recommended Posts

Hi Mr Rocket Sir,

Request: Implement the ability to purchase different accounts under the same copy of DayZ Standalone

I am an older gamer and self confessed DayZ addict. I have purchased three copies of ARMA2 through Steam to allow myself and my two boys to be able to play our own characters on the same PC. We can't afford to have three separate PCs capable of playing ARMA2, let alone ARMA3, so having the ability to purchase and switch between logic accounts is something that I know a lot of people will require. The current workarounds of setting up multiple Steam accounts, exporting and then reimporting registry tree nodes to switch CD Keys is not very pretty and well beyond the range of some people.

Not doing so will cause young boys to cry, so you know what you have to do. Go on, I'll give my beans Sir.

Young boys? In Arma? talk about irresponsible :D

Joke aside, why not, sounds like a good idea.

The potential for exploitation is great. But...it seems like a necessary evil to keep families killing zombies together.

There are going to be many ways to abuse this unfortunately. I would however like to see its way implemented into the game hopefully with something to stop the potential abuse...

Rocket is aware of most of the exploitation that this would bring about.

The fact remains that nothing will stop people from buying a second account anyway, might aswell make it official and put in some measures to control it.

What I got from a recent interview is that they are experimenting with people being able to host private games on a localised hive.

If you wanted to play only with friends, you could host your own private game that wouldn't be connected to the core hive.

You could play with your friends when you want, but also play as a separate character on servers connected to the hive. Much the same way as the private hives are working now, but more localised.

Can you link to the interview? That sounds awesome and I'd love to hear about it first hand. :)

I thing you're missing my point. I don't want to play with them, they're crap (love you boys, but you could hit a barn with a truck). They just love playing DayZ. It's about them being able to play their own public character on the public hive.

I am more than happy to pay per account, as I am now, an more than happy to again multi times for the standalone version. I would just like the ability to do it on the same machine without having to result to highly technical workarounds.

There is nothing insidious here and people will work out how to do it. Besides, more accounts = more My Little Pony toys for Rocket and BI. It's a win/win.

I like your idea. Takes me back to playing on my dad's computer, setting the timer for an hour, playing some EQ, and then switching off for one of my brothers.
