Sheep corpse disappeared less than a minute after killing

What happened: I

Where you were: No idea.

What you were doing: I was clearing room in my inventory for the sheep that I had just killed and gutted, and the corpse simply disappeared, less than a minute after I had killed it. VERYfrustrating when you're at 2.3k blood.
