Salad KEBAB 3 Posted August 8, 2012 I'll make this really brief. The ability to preform CPR would be great if it could be implemented in the soon to come, Standalone. This feature would make it possible to revive downed survivors but only with a 30% rate of success. Along with the CPR feature, it would be amazing to be a portable AED (Defibrillator) as another method in reviving casualties but with a higher success rate than the CPR method. I'd also suggest that the AED would be considered quite rare and only found in medical tents / hospitals. I tried to make it as short as possible, thanks for reading. Tiercel 63 Posted August 8, 2012 Good idea, I like it. Dunno if its possible though, I cant see why not.I believe ArmA II ACE Mod already implements a more advanced medical system than vanilla ArmA/DayZ, perhaps something to take some ideas from?
Petri (DayZ) 14 Posted August 8, 2012 I think it would make it too easy, and fear of dying would be too insignifcant.
Tiercel 63 Posted August 8, 2012 I think it would make it too easy, and fear of dying would be too insignifcant. Why? Its no differant than having a team mate with epi pen and morphine at the moment, just a bit more fun/involving
Photolysis 25 Posted August 8, 2012 I think it would make it too easy, and fear of dying would be too insignifcant.I don't think anyone's suggesting a BF3 style system where the magic defibrilator can revive you instantly and repeatedly no matter how many bullets to the face you take.People can be revived in certain cases in the real world and it's not too unreasonable for the game to reflect this without making it so players can take 10 .50 shots to the chest or head. Sufficient firepower would still be enough to kill you with no chance of revival.
Heiduk 265 Posted August 8, 2012 I'm not sure this would add much to the game and it certainly wouldn't be very realistic. The most common cause of death in DayZ is trauma not cardiac arrest and CPR or an AED won't help a trauma victim much.Even if people were dropping dead of cardiac arrest (maybe we need a cholesterol statistic), CPR is not very successful in the absence of advanced medical care. The numbers I'm remembering are on the order of 2-5 %. AEDs do boost success rates significantly but should need a power source to recharge them after use.
