[GUIDE] New players guide.

The greatest thing about DayZ is the emotions it evokes. Uncertainty, fear, confusion , excitement, frustration. The joy of discovery. The satisfaction of making progress in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Anger at getting betrayed, relief when you meet a friendly survivor. Amazement when you find your first vehicle.

To this end here is my guide:

DON'T read any guides. Don't use out of game maps, Don't use loot tables, vehicle location maps and don't abandon night servers because they seem harder.

DO use your brain, common sense is your biggest asset in Dayz, whether it's navigating without a map using the sun. Or listening to that little voice that says "if you go down there your going to die".

Saying that every-time you die in Dayz you think about it afterwards and wish you had done this or that. You learn and your next life will be a little more successful These early stages are in many ways the most rewarding. Relish that part of the game, in amongst the annoyance is the real joy of the game. Every bit of content you find out of game lessens the experience.

That said there are a few bugs and features in the game that need a little explanation.

The inventory system is awkward. Here is a guide for just that:

Do not crawl into buildings or down stairs this can kill you.

Do not vault into buildings if you cant get up the steps this can kill you .

There ARE hackers. If one kills you forget about it and enjoy a fresh start.

Cycle through chat channels by pressing "." to direct chat, people can only hear you within 40m. "/" allows you to type. And pressing Caps_Lock lets you use voice chat.

Double tapping alot of the keys toggles them, if your controls seem stuck that's probably it.

Use the six launcher to keep up to date with the latest patches it works really well now.

That's all you need. Get out there and immerse yourself in the game.

Thanks , I can understand the temptation of wanting to find out everything you don't know when you start, but the "endgame" of Dayz is currently the weakest part in many ways. Extending your enjoyment of the early exploration is really key to getting the most out of the game I think.
